    G.E.C. Inc. is in need of a PROFESSIONAL ITS ENGINEER to join their team. 

    PURPOSE:

    Develop plans for surface transportation projects, according to established engineering standards and state or federal construction policy. Prepare designs, specifications, or estimates for transportation facilities. Plan modifications of existing streets, highways, or freeways to improve traffic flow.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • BS in Civil or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering curricula, advanced degree a plus
    • P.E. Registration in the State of Louisiana or ability to gain through reciprocity in a timely manner
    • Minimum 5 years of demonstrable experience and results developing ITS solutions

    JOB PREREQUISITES:

    • Projects experience should include new ITS deployments, upgrades and/or replacement of existing infrastructure (OMS, CCTV, RVD, fiber optic networks, etc.) 
    • Projects experience should include final plans, specifications, construction estimate, constructability/biddability review form, and Construction Traffic Management Plan
    • Project Management
    • Proficient in computer operation for engineering design programs and computer aided drafting 
    • Knowledge and understanding of applicable design codes and client's standards
    • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
    • Strong verbal, written and organizational skills

    VALUED EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS (NON-REQUISITE):

    • Experience with Microstation
    • Experience with Inroads
    • Networking, BISCI, or communication/IT industry-related certifications

    TYPICAL DUTIES: 

    • Developing/updating Statewide and Regional ITS Architecture documents, corridor studies, feasibility studies, traffic signal studies, ramp metering studies, traffic simulation modeling analyses using DOTD-standard software, and system engineering analyses, conceptual design, and preliminary plans.
    • Review and address all Requests for Information (RFI's)
    • Review and approve shop drawings, product data, and other data submitted by the construction contractor.
    • Assist with project commission testing and integration
    • Design or prepare plans for new transportation systems or parts of systems, such as highways, streets, or bridges.
    • Prepare administrative, technical, or statistical reports on traffic-operation matters, such as accidents, safety measures, or pedestrian volume or practices.
    • Prepare project budgets, schedules, or specifications for labor or materials.
    • Evaluate transportation systems or traffic control devices to determine need for modification or expansion.
    • Investigate traffic problems and recommend methods to improve traffic flow or safety.
    • Analyze environmental impact statements for transportation projects.
    • Model transportation scenarios to evaluate the impacts of activities such as new development or to identify possible solutions to transportation problems.
    • Plan alteration or modification of existing transportation structures to improve safety or function.
    • Inspect completed transportation projects.
    • Confer with contractors, utility companies, or government agencies to discuss plans, specifications, or work schedules.
    • Check construction plans, design calculations, or cost estimations to ensure completeness, accuracy, or conformity to engineering standards or practices.

    Business Hours:  Monday thru Thursday 7:30 am to 5:00pm; Friday 7:30 am to 11:30 am
