  • Responsibilities

    G&L Tube is looking for a creative candidate to fill the Mechanical Engineer position. The selected candidate will work on all product stages from research and development to design and manufacturing, as well as implementation for productive and efficient results. The goal is to design and fabricate mechanical components of innovation and excellence.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Use modern engineering tools such as CAD and CNC programming software to design tooling, jigs, and fixtures as well as modify existing part models.

    • Provide feedback and input on production engineering and estimating engineering activity

    • Advise management on new/existing equipment

    • Maintain a cohesive and creative culture within the engineering group

    • Develop executable plans with projects on schedules, lead-times, design and build approaches for special projects and capital projects.

    • Manufacturing liaison support to operators, purchasing, and estimating

    • Create and present concepts/products to management on new innovations, projects, and equipment

    General Responsibilities:

    • Support needs of the production and quality organizations to improve operator efficiencies/outcomes.

    • Provide technical reviews and presentations to the management team

    • Lead the design assembly and testing of new manufacturing tooling

    • Create test plans as needed and maintain documentation of results.

    • Support program design reviews, drawing reviews, failure analysis, anomaly resolution

    Education and Experience:

    • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field or 5+ years experienced required
    • Basic knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems
    • Understanding of compliance regulations and codes.
    • Proficiently in modern engineering tools such as CAD and CNC programming software required.
    • Above average knowledge of equipment maintenance standards preferred
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills across all levels of an organization
    • Asset justification Industrial engineering skills such as work measurement, labor reporting and plant layout
    • Computer skills including MS Office, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD
    • Analytical analysis and problem-solving skills

    Exceptional skills in automation processes and new technology preferred
