POWERTRAIN NVH/CAE ENGINEER
Position Duties:
· Lead/run Powertrain NVH CAE analysis tools such as noise contribution analysis, cascade targets to subsystem, interface with CAE subteams, and lead NVH attribute assessment for PT NVH.
· Develop systems engineering approach to meet vehicle/customer level targets to cascade targets to systems and sub-systems and develop upfront hardware solutions with cross-functional teams.
· Recommend vehicle program hardware content, using data from technicians, other engineers, or self-generated.
· Lead fast resolution of Powertrain NVH issues. Work with cross-functional teams to determine root cause, develop affordable countermeasures, and work with Design & Release and Program teams to implement.
· Provide instruction to technicians to run required tests correctly, update test procedures as needed for increased efficiency, represent department on various Corporate Attribute Teams.
· Conduct subjective vehicle NVH evaluations to back up objective data.
· Lead implementation of various PT NVH core projects (method/metric/target development, process improvements, etc.).
Skills Required:
· Proficiency with FEA and full vehicle modeling tools such as ABAQUS, ANSYS, Hypermesh, Nastran, or NVH-Console.
· Familiarity with various Powertrain NVH analysis tools (Siemens Test.Lab, HEAD Acoustics Artemis, Matlab, etc) and instrumentation (microphones, accelerometers, tachometers, g-meters, load cells, shakers, telemetry, etc).
· Understanding of rotating machinery dynamics.
· Solid NVH troubleshooting skills for issue resolution based on experience.
· Strong background in Powertrain NVH, ability to understand powertrain related excitations, and their effect on the vehicle.
· Ability to work with NVH data (CAE or test, self-generated or interfacing team members) to make design recommendations to solve a particular Powertrain NVH issue.
· Proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and statistical software (Minitab).
Skills Preferred:
· Experience with Powertrain NVH.
· Strong Competency in Noise Path Analysis, Modal Analysis, Sound Quality Techniques and Human Perception in Sound and Vibration.
· Understanding of Powertrain Systems including Powerplant (ICE, HEV, and BEV), Transmission, Driveline, AIS, Exhaust, Mount Systems and Body Structures.
· Fluent understanding of NVH data based on either test or analytical predictions.
· Product Design & Release experience.
· 6 Sigma Black Belt certification.
· Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
Education Required:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (such as BSME).
Education Preferred:
• Master’s Degree in Engineering (such as MSME).
