    G3 Aerospace is seeking to hire an experienced manufacturing engineer to join our team located in San Diego, CA. 

    JOB SUMMARY

    Works with contracted customers to develop and implement, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with customer and product specifications and quality standards. Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods, and controls. Coordinate manufacturing launch for new or revised products as requested by the customer.

    Seeks additional growth opportunities with customers to consult on manufacturing processes and methods.

    RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Develops and implements, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards 
    • Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods, and controls 
    • Oversee, initiate, and provide maintenance strategy improvement activities in line with production-limiting events, planned outages, and sustaining corrective actions 
    • Work independently, with vendors, and with maintenance teams to understand root cause of failures, propose design or component changes, and implement and validate equipment modifications from a sustaining operations standpoint 
    • Create engineering reports/presentations
    • Create and maintain detailed manufacturing instructions
    • Customer requirement and specification review
    • Create internal composite specifications and procedures
    • Approve drawings, manufacturing aides and engineering orders
    • Create/support products and composite part project estimates
    • Implement process improvements to reduce costs and cycle times
    • Communicate changes and deviations to manufacturing by releasing revisions, red-lines and engineering orders
    • Contract and PO review
    • Coordinate with Quality Assurance to assist first article inspections
    • Interface with customers on technical and program-related matters
    • MRB experience, FAI and root-cause investigations related to production
    • ERP product structure and BOM entries
    • Composite tool/fixture familiarity
    • Developing ply patterns and creating cut files
    • Other responsibilities as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • BS Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Manufacturing/Reliability Engineering, or similar
    • 3+ years of hands-on mechanical and electrical experience in a production environment; or in a plant industrial maintenance role
    • Ability to work flexible scheduling and hours as production and maintenance needs change; this may include days, evenings, and flexible weekends for support
    • Experience with Creo (preferred) or Catia V5 or Solidworks
    • Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
    • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively achieve results with multiple vendors and internal and external customers; demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams
    • Knowledge of, or experience with drilling, tapping, and utilizing basic shop tools
    • Working knowledge of data analysis, statistics, SPC, and quality improvement
    • Able to maintain organization and focus in a highly dynamic environment
    • Excellent communicator, both in presentations and written reports
    • Occasionally exposed to work in outdoor environments - heat, cold, rain
    • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends
    • Ability to lift 50 lb

    PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 

    • Familiarity with complex capital equipment (robot, precision dispenser, laser welder) and their electrical systems 
    • Knowledge of Production and Equipment/Plant capability metrics (OEE, MTTR, FPY, etc.) and the improvement of such through 4D, RCA, and PFMEA process tools 
    • Experience with, and development of technical drawing, writings, and/or GD&T 
    • Strong hands-on experience with high-volume, final assembly setting 
    • Experience operating boom lifts, man lifts, and cranes
