    Job Description

    THE ROLE:

    As an engineering laboratory technician, you will be responsible for conducting and documenting laboratory electrical and mechanical testing in support of new product development, updates to current products and product audits and characterization, in support of test requests submitted by the Engineering team and others.

    WHAT YOU'LL DO:

    • Set-up and perform electrical/mechanical testing
    • Document test results within formal reporting system
    • Build luminaires from a Bill of Material (BOM)
    • Assist in the design/development of new testing methods
    • Work closely with Engineering team to ensure compliance of regulations and specifications
    • Use of machine tools such as band saw and drill press for sample/test preparation
    • Minor maintenance/repair on laboratory equipment

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL:

    • Be highly exacting in your work, including setting up of tests and accurate and thorough documentation of test results
    • Have the ability to work cross-functionally with various team members
    • Be a self-paced worker who can be proficient while multi-tasking and working on different projects simultaneously

    WHAT YOU HAVE:

    • Associate's degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering/Electrical Technology or significant commensurate experience.
    • Intermediate experience working with electrical equipment, either in setup and testing of equipment or repair/maintenance of electro-mechanical equipment
    • Understanding of basic electrical/mechanical concepts
    • The ability to lift up to 50-pound fixture to install and remove from laboratory test equipment as part of setup of laboratory tests

    WHAT WE'D LOVE YOU TO HAVE:

    • 2+ years of laboratory testing experience, including documentation of test results
    • Luminaire validation testing experience to UL1598
    • Experience with compliance validation and reliability testing including vibration, IP, pack and environmental testing.
    • Experience in designing electrical/mechanical test setups and procedures
    • Knowledge of select ANSI C136/C78/C82 standards, IEC IP Testing, and DLC In-situ test method
    • Basic working knowledge of SAP enterprise software to break down BOMs and locate part drawings
    • Knowledge of UL1598/8750 standards and performance of luminaire validation testing to the UL standards
    • Labview programming experience
