BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for proper receipt and disbursement of money to and from members. Responsible for furnishing information to the members about the credit union and its other services.
TYPICAL DUTIES
Processes various transactions at the member service representative window including, posting withdrawals, loan payments, deposits, line of credit advances, etc.
Assists with writing up and posting depository transactions.
Assists Member Service Supervisors with the balancing of vault and TCD.
Completes credit union checks, Traveler's Checks and Money Orders.
Posts transactions received through the mail when the workload permits.
Runs partial bank deposits.
Balances member service representative drawer at the end of the day.
Makes judgment decisions regarding tickler lockouts, warning information, altered items, and post and stale-dated checks, after sufficient experience is gained.
Ensures that member's accounts are credited properly.
Ensures that all cash transactions are performed accurately.
Cross-sells credit union services.
Promotes faster service by spending no more than three (3) minutes with each member as the situation allows.
Obtains satisfactory audits.
Performs VOE duties when needed with gained experience.
Assists with heavy lifting when needed.
Assists MSS counter as needed with gained experience.
May assist as backup for opening of new accounts.
Maintain and understand compliance to ensure that work complies with GECU’s established policies, procedures and applicable regulations.
Other duties as may be assigned or required in connection with the general operation of the credit union.
CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of cash accounting procedures.
Basic skills such as typing, use of calculators or adding machines, obtaining a status and posting on computer terminals.
Knowledge of all credit union procedures and policies applying to the Member Service Representative position.
Awareness of security when dealing with cash, keys, and other areas of GECU.
Even temperament and the ability to work well under pressure.
Good judgment and tact in dealing with the membership.
Good communication skills, oral and written.
High School diploma or equivalent with six (6) months cash handling or similar related experience.
Full Time Member Service Representatives must be available for work at least 35 hours Monday to Saturday each week. Rotating schedules will be assigned between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each Saturday.
Requires sitting and standing the majority of the day, lifting up to 10 pounds, twisting and reaching above and below shoulder level continuously, lifting up to 20 pounds frequently, lifting more than 50 pounds, bending, squatting, climbing and kneeling occasionally.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
Providing quality service is the primary responsibility of this position. Quality service means treating members and coworkers with respect and courtesy at all levels whether in person or by telephone as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
REQUIRED AVAILABILITY: Monday- Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Such disclosure will be made to you within 5 days of the date on which we receive the request from you or within 5 days from the time the report was first requested.
