ABOUT US:
GEO Next Generation High School is a high-quality innovative charter high school in NE Baton Rouge, managed and supported by the GEO Foundation. Built as a launching pad, not a destination, and logical next step for students attending GEO Prep Academy and GEO Prep Mid-City and other high quality area schools, GEO Next Generation High School is an open-enrollment, tuition-free, college immersion public high school that partners with Baton Rouge Community College to provide real college campus and class experience to our students while they are in high school. The school opened in 2019-20 with an inaugural class of 100 9th graders and, this year, has more than 200 9th and 10th graders. We will grow to serve 11th and 12th grade in the following years.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited institution.
Experience: Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience
2 years of leadership experience in a low-income, high-needs school
Louisiana certification as a school administrator
Proven innovative thinker
Proven commitment to community
High School counseling/College counseling experience
TAP Master Teacher/Executive Master Teacher Experience
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
The following duties are representative of performance expectations:
Serve as the instructional leader of the building.
Recruit and retain highly effective teachers and staff
Work with high school college and career counselor to ensure proper placement of students
Lead the improvement of student achievement by implementing the TAP Model for teacher observation and evaluation with high levels of fidelity.
Work in partnership with GEO Network leaders to manage school resources (fiscal, human capital, facilities and equipment, etc.) to support student achievement.
Promote a positive tone for collaborative school/community relations by articulating the mission, seeking community support, and fostering rapport with all stakeholders.
Confer with parents and staff to discuss educational activities, policies, and student behavioral or learning problems.
Recruit and retain student population from year to year.
Perform other administrative duties as assigned by the CAO for GEO Academies in Baton Rouge.
