    ABOUT US

    GEO Prep Academies of Baton Rouge is a tuition-free, public charter school system (GEO Prep Academy of Greater Baton Rouge, GEO Prep Mid-City and GEO Next Generation High School) that serves students in grades K-12+. Our dedicated faculty and staff are committed to providing an outstanding education for students each day as they transition from elementary to middle school to high school and COLLEGE. Our curriculum and teaching methods are designed using Core Knowledge in K-8 and a blended learning model in elementary school through high school. We are a TAP school!

    REPORTS TO/TERM:

    Principal and Administrative Team

    This is a 10-month position.

    QUALIFICATIONS FOR ALL POSITIONS:

    A bachelor’s degree or higher with at least 24 credit hours in content area

    (Teachers only) Valid Louisiana Teaching License in subject or grade level applying for or 2 years of teaching experience or currently enrolled/willing to enroll in a Teaching Certification Program preferred

    Strong technical skills, particularly in integrating technology in the classroom to drive academic achievement

    Demonstrated volunteer or community service

    At least one (or more) of the following:

    National Board Certification

    TAP Experience (sign on bonus for TAP certification)

    Core Knowledge Experience

    Experience with Blended Learning

    At least two years of successful teaching in an urban environment

    Key Responsibilities:

    A teacher is required to perform the following duties:

    Plan and implement a blended learning environment, providing direct and indirect instruction in the areas of Social Studies, Science, Language Arts, Health, and Mathematics based on state standards

    Participation in all TAP requirements, focusing on data-driven instruction

    Create an inviting, exciting, innovative and engaging learning environment that develops student critical thinking and problem-solving skills

    Prepare students for strong academic achievement and passing of all required assessments

    Communicate regularly with parents

    Continually assess student progress toward mastery of standards and keep students and parents well informed of student progress by collecting and tracking data, providing daily feedback, weekly assessments, and occasional parent/teacher conferences

    Work with the Special Education teachers and administration to serve special needs students in the classroom

    Attend all grade level and staff meetings and attend designated school functions outside of school hours

    Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom you are responsible

    Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from administrative staff

    Perform necessary duties including but not limited to morning, lunch, dismissal, and after-school duties

    Performs other duties, as deemed appropriate, by the principal

    Dress professionally and uphold all school policies

    A Classroom Assistant is required to perform the following duties:

    Work collaboratively and harmoniously with Lead Classroom Teacher

    Support established classroom rules and protocol

    Motivate and support students in reaching high levels of academic success

    Create a positive student culture around online learning and small group tutoring

    Maintain high behavioral expectations for all students

    Interpret, manage, and utilize multiple sets of data in order to best support student progress

    Perform targeted individual assistance and small group tutoring

    Assist with the creation of individual learning plans for each student enrolled

    Maintain frequent communication with students and their support network regarding academic progress

    Communicate and collaborate with teachers and school administrators

    Participate in staff development opportunities

    Participate in all relative grade appropriate or requested staff meetings

    Ensure the security of computer equipment and accessories

    Dress professionally and uphold all school policies

    Perform other duties, as deemed appropriate, by Lead Classroom Teacher and Principal

    A Substitute Teacher is required to perform the following duties:

    Assume all duties of the regular classroom teacher promptly and in accordance with school rules. This may include bus, lunchroom, playground, hall duty or other duties assigned by the building principal.

    Follow the instructions left by the teacher or alert the administrator if there are no plans to follow.

    Check to ensure that there are sufficient supplies in the classroom to carry out lesson plans.

    Maintain normal classroom routines and discipline procedures

    Spend the entire assignment working with and for the students. No personal work of any kind should be done. The substitute teacher is expected to carry out the instructions of the regular teacher, including grading daily papers and leaving a summary of work covered.

    Remain in the classroom if a student teacher of intern is teaching.

    Maintain a positive learning atmosphere in the classroom. Disruptive student conduct in class in not acceptable. If serious student behavior problems occur, assistance should be sought from a neighboring teacher or a building administrator.
