Job Title: Application Engineer

Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and skilled Application Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a degree in electrical, software, or mechanical engineering and 1-2 years of experience of hands on engineering experience. This role is pivotal in connecting devices to the GEODNET network, providing exceptional customer support, and ensuring the smooth operation of our Global Base Stations. We are looking for someone who can work on-site at our office 5 days a week. Preference will be given to local candidates. Relocation costs are not covered.
About Us: GEODNET is deploying GNSS/GPS Reference Stations throughout the world. They are used to provide corrections to GNSS/GPS enabling cm accuracy for projects in construction, agriculture, transportation, and a growing number of applications. This accuracy is essential for greater efficiency in the use of the world’s resources. Currently, more than 8000+ stations are online and visible at https://console.geodnet.com/map.
Key Responsibilities:
Configure stations, perform checkout procedures, and prepare for shipment.
Provide remote support for installation, maintenance, and upgrades.
Develop solutions such as battery backup, installation brackets, and remote monitoring tools
Use diagnostic tools and online platforms (WhatsApp, Zoom) for troubleshooting and communication with remote hosts.
Address short-term and immediate recovery actions for offline stations.
Implement longer-term corrective and preventive measures.
Respond to and work on tickets in the ticketing system.
Maintain network reliability goal of 99.9%.
Contribute to the design of new hardware configurations.
Conduct tests with hardware and software.
Participate in weekly meetings with key data customers to address their needs and feedback.
Develop diagnostic and upgrade scripts to streamline network maintenance tasks.
Manage AWS servers that route station data.
Enhance server performance and maintain data relay codebase (Node.JS).
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Software, or Mechanical preferred)
1-2 years of experience in network or field engineering (preferred).
Strong understanding of basic electrical design principles, basic mechanical engineering, network connectivity and troubleshooting.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with IoT and Wireless technologies.
Familiarity with setting up and maintaining hardware stations.
Knowledge of network protocols and security measures.
Proficiency in JavaScript (Node.JS) and Python for scripting and server management.
Mechanical design software (AutoCAD or SolidWorks) and schematic capture (OrCAD, Altium) a plus
