    GIRL SCOUTS OF SOUTHWEST TEXAS covers twenty-one (21) counties and is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas. The Council operates two facilities, the Sally Cheever Girl Scout Leadership Center, and the West Side Girl Scout Leadership Center at Coronado and one resident camp, Camp Lajita in Utopia. the Council is well known for its successful ability to provide the girl scout leadership experience to thousands of girls in non-traditional programs.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Reports directly to the CEO working closely with and part of the senior executive leadership team to develop and administer the Council’s work, derived from the mission and strategic priorities set by the Council’s Board of Directors. Leads and manages several Directors/departments and significant number of the Council staff.

    GENERAL PURPOSE 

    Strategic planning; membership, recruitment, volunteer management services; program services; quality assurance; community outreach; diversity, equity, and inclusion management; customer service; and business operations.

    Expected to build, motivate, and lead high performing teams who are customer focused and consistently deliver on the mission and promise of Girl Scouting in the community. 

    Responsible for driving council-wide growth, retention, and continuous improvement to streamline operations while increasing efficiency and effectiveness of mission delivery departments as well as the oversight of operational budget, metrics, and key performance indicators. Ensures state-of-the art tools, systems, procedures, and processes are available and in place to serve the membership and staff.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Partner with CEO, leadership team and board of directors to ensure effective sustainable membership growth, relevant programs, and quality services by shaping the Council’s strategy, leading process improvement efforts, and infusing reliable, decisive, and accountable leadership.
    • Develop plans to ensure the development of membership to serve all areas of Council responsibility, modeling the mission and work ethic of the Girl Scout movement to meet the needs of members in a volunteer-based organization.
    • Ensure availability of resources to ensure delivery of quality services.
    • Develop plans and execute balanced budgets to provide necessary services, maintaining control and financial accountability and oversight in concert with senior leadership team.
    • Build collaborative and trust-based relationships with community organizations, agencies, and businesses to ensure support of Girl Scout efforts. 
    • Provide support to select committees of the Council’s Board of Directors as assigned by the CEO. Develop and maintain a risk management plan for all program operations, including outdoor education; ensure all policies are carried out in compliance with local, state, federal and American Camping Association standards where applicable.

    ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: 

    • Bachelor’s degree (minimum)
    • 10+years’ experience and proven success directing operations of a large, complex organization
    • Managerial/Leadership: demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others
    • Planning: Ability to think/plan strategically and operationally
    • Management: Organize and multi-task priorities
    • Problem analysis and problem resolution at both strategic and functional levels.  Demonstrate critical thinking and conflict resolution skills.
    • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.  
    • Project Management experience
    • Recruiting experience/staff development
    • Commitment to Girl Scout values
    • Driver’s license/must be in good standing and must be able to operate a vehicle; responsible for own transportation

    LICENSURE/MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS: The employee is required to maintain membership with Girl Scouts of the United States of America throughout the duration of their employment with GSSWT.
