Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled GIS Analyst to perform advanced Geographic Information System (GIS) development and maintenance functions in support of Land Management operations.
This role is responsible for conducting complex spatial analysis, developing GIS applications, maintaining geospatial data layers, and supporting mapping requests from both county staff and the public. The GIS Analyst will collaborate with internal stakeholders, provide technical support and training, and develop scripts and tools to improve GIS workflows and efficiency. The position requires strong analytical ability, technical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of experience in GIS analysis, development, or a related field
- Experience performing complex spatial analysis and producing maps, reports, and geospatial products
- Experience working with GIS software (such as ESRI ArcGIS or similar platforms)
- Experience developing scripts or automation tools (e.g., Python, ModelBuilder, or similar)
- Experience maintaining GIS data layers, metadata, and databases
- Experience supporting end-users, troubleshooting issues, and providing technical guidance
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Valid Florida driver’s license
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Experience Preferences
- Experience developing GIS applications for internal or public use
- Experience working in a government, municipal, or land management environment
- Familiarity with land use, zoning, or environmental data
- Experience managing map libraries and standardized GIS products
- Experience providing user training and documentation
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a standard office or hybrid work environment
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer
- Ability to lift and carry materials up to 25 lbs
- Occasional fieldwork may be required
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Urban Planning, or a related field
Education Preferences
- Certifications in GIS or related technologies (e.g., GISP)
- Additional training in programming, data analysis, or geospatial technologies
