Moonshot Aerospace is seeking a GN&C Test & Verification Engineer to support spacecraft test and integration activities at a customer site in Houston, TX. This position supports validation and verification (V&V) of GN&C and positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) subsystems for commercial and government programs including the Human Landing System (HLS), Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS), and related efforts.
This role combines GN&C domain knowledge with hands-on test planning and execution. The engineer will lead or support V&V testing on flight-like hardware and high-fidelity testbeds, translate requirements into verification strategies, and drive test activities from planning through final reporting. This is an on-site position at the customer facility. Multiple experience levels are available, and responsibilities will scale with demonstrated capability.
Responsibilities
Plan and execute V&V testing for GN&C and PNT hardware and software components
Organize and lead test execution, including scheduling, coordinating required personnel, and documenting results
Translate system and subsystem requirements into executable test plans and verification strategies
Prepare and lead Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs)
Serve as test conductor for integrated testing activities, managing anomaly resolution and troubleshooting
Perform post-test analysis and generate test reports with clear documentation of results and findings
Support GN&C hardware integration including GNSS receivers, navigation sensors, optical cameras, and flight software
Conduct requirements analysis and flow-down, ensuring alignment with mission objectives and applicable standards
Generate and maintain technical documentation including: test plans, procedures, and interface control documents
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across avionics, electrical, mechanical, software, and GN&C disciplines
Required Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
5+ years of professional experience in spacecraft or aerospace systems test and verification
Hardware testing and system integration experience with complex avionics or GN&C systems
Understanding of GN&C system architecture, navigation sensors, and spacecraft avionics
Experience developing and executing test plans, procedures, and verification strategies
Broad technical understanding across avionics, electrical, mechanical, and software systems
Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate test activities across multiple teams
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
Experience with GN&C or navigation sensor testing (IMU, star tracker, GPS/GNSS, LiDAR, optical cameras)
Hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) or software-in-the-loop (SWIL) test experience
Background in spacecraft integration and test (I&T) environments
Experience with autonomous systems, navigation, or PNT subsystems
Familiarity with requirements management and traceability tools
Experience with JIRA, Agile processes, and configuration management
Spacecraft flight operations or real-time test execution experience
Launch vehicle or satellite test experience
