The company is headquartered in Irvine, California and currently has operations in Fontana, CA; Albuquerque, NM; Phoenix, AZ; Grants Pass, OR; Dallas, TX; Houston, TX; and Salt Lake City, UT. GWLS is seeking expansion into other sites in its current footprint, as well as into other cities across the country. GWLS currently seeks a well-qualified STAFF ACCOUNTANT to help the company drive positive growth in our Finance & Accounting Department.

Responsibilities:
- Prepare and record daily/monthly accounting loan/interest related entries. Reconcile, research, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly cash analysis reports to management
- Active contributor in month-end, year-end closing (record J.E & reconcile G/L)
- Review and reconcile corp. credit cards and perform accruals at month end relating to corp. credit cards
- Prepare and file sale & use tax, property tax, FET, etc.
- Update financial data in databases timely to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed
- Work on special projects and perform analysis as needed
- Provide support for internal and external audits
- Identify weaknesses in internal financial controls.
- Identify and reconcile differences between conflicting balances in an account.
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Knowledge of GAAP
- Prior hands on knowledge in Sales Tax, property tax filings.
- Must be highly organized and able to adapt to a fast paced and changing business environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and expert level Excel (macros, pivot tables, H & V-Lookup); ability to utilize computer technology for communication, data gathering and reporting activities.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Must be able to interpret data and solve problems, effectively handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Establish, maintain and promote positive and effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Demonstrate initiative and exercise good judgment in the performance of duties.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task using multiple systems (automated and manual) while monitoring compliance with policies and procedures
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to bring solutions to a problem
- Independent critical thinking and data validation mandatory
- Strong attention to detail and retention of pertinent information
- Organized self-starter that works well in a team environment
- Work independently, as a team member; recognize and set priorities and meet deadlines.
- 2+ years of accounting experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance.
