  • Responsibilities

    GSI Water Solutions, Inc. (GSI), is seeking a motivated, mid-level hydrogeologist to support a growing base of groundwater projects in California. This position can work from our Santa Barbara office or San Luis Obispo office. This is a position for a dynamic team player looking for career growth in project and client management within water resource consulting.

    Projects involve aquifer recharge, production and injection well design and installation, water quality analyses, groundwater modeling, development of water budgets, wastewater reuse, and groundwater management planning. The successful candidate will be experienced in groundwater basin evaluations, groundwater sustainability studies, well design, installation, and testing, water quality analysis, writing reports, and have excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

    Fieldwork-related includes:

    • Managing and organizing field programs and conduct technical briefings to field staff.
    • Performing interpretation of subsurface data.
    • Generating complete technical reports and proposals.
    • Preparing and overseeing pumping tests and water quality sampling programs.

    Office work includes:

    • Writing technical reports.
    • Developing project budgets and scopes of work for review by senior-level project manager.
    • Managing the budget, performance, billings, and schedule on multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Participate in technical review of project work and reports.
    • Maintaining client contact for specific projects.
    • Developing field, data interpretation and project management skills in junior staff.

    Qualifications:

    • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in geology with advanced coursework in hydrogeology; applicants with a Bachelor's Degree only may be considered with appropriate experience.
    • 8 to 15 years of experience.
    • Minimum of two years of project management experience.
    • Knowledge of California's water resources issues, local geology, and regulatory environment preferred.
    • A professional geologist or certified hydrogeologist license in California is preferred.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work successfully in a team setting.
    • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to travel throughout California and the Pacific Northwest.
