    Reports to: Pacific NW Groundwater Practice Lead

    Location: Flexible/hybrid work schedule available reporting to office in either Portland, Bend or Corvallis (Portland preferred). Fully remote option possible for candidates in Eugene/Springfield, The Dalles, or Hermiston.

    We are currently seeking a skilled managing hydrogeologist with experience in groundwater resources to help manage a thriving and growing base of groundwater supply projects in Oregon and Washington. This is a mid- to senior-level professional position that will be responsible for the timely, accurate and profitable completion of all sized projects.

    In this role you will:

    • Manage water supply projects involving aquifer characterization, aquifer storage and recovery, aquifer recharge, water well design and construction, aquifer testing, well rehabilitation and maintenance, and resource protection.
    • Collaborate with staff, clients, stakeholders, and teaming partners to address groundwater management challenges.
    • Review and provide oversight of project work and reports prepared by junior and mid-level staff.
    • Manage the budget, performance, billings, and schedule on multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Prepare work plans, technical reports, and presentations.
    • Identify new clients and actively pursue new business development opportunities.
    • Support GSI’s strategic plan initiatives related to groundwater resources.

    Work Environment and Physical Demands

    This job is conducted largely in a professional office environment with occasional field efforts. The role requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copiers.     Travel and Field Work

    Project areas are generally local or within approximately a two hour drive (Oregon and Washington). Some travel to project sites will be required. Approximately 10-15 percent of work time will be spent traveling and working in the field and/or to project/client meetings.

    Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

    • Oregon RG or Washington PG (preferably Washington LHG or California CHG) or Oregon PE in civil engineering with a water resources specialty, or will demonstrate ability to acquire within five years of employment.
    • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

    Education and Experience

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • BS degree in geology, water resource engineering, natural resource planning, hydrogeology, or closely related field.
    • 10 years of water resources planning, water supply development, and/or groundwater experience.
    • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects in areas of water supply development, water resources planning, aquifer/basin studies, and groundwater management.
    • Experience preparing work plans and technical reports as well as reviewing and interpreting data.
    • MS degree in hydrogeology or geology; or MS degree in civil engineering, water resources engineering, or planning, environmental engineering.
    • Experience in the water resources and/or water rights consulting fields.
    • An understanding of the technical complexities of groundwater resource and management issues in Oregon and Washington.
    • Proficient in all phases of business/client development activities.
    • Possess excellent communication, organizational, and report-writing skills
    • Have the ability to work independently and collaboratively
    • Have a desire to mentor junior staff
    • Be a champion in the shaping and sustaining of an inclusive workplace

    Valued Education and Experience:

    • MS degree in hydrogeology or geology; or MS degree in civil engineering, water resources engineering, or planning, environmental engineering.
    • Experience in the water resources and/or water rights consulting fields.
