Power Generation Instructional Designer
- Contract Duration 4+ months
- Pay rate up to $60 - $68/hr
Job Description:
- Partner with cross-functional teams to conceptualize training design and content.
- Define learning objectives, course structure, learning content, and assessments.
- Complete a detailed analysis of each task to be trained/supported for the target audience, business process, and systems.
- Follow company standards, guidelines, and templates to develop learning materials including student and facilitator presentations and guides, activities, scenarios, and assessments.
- Create instructional graphics, scenarios, or interactions.
- Write clear and effective instruction and facilitator text appropriate for the target audience.
- Conduct meetings with subject matter experts including task analysis, alpha, beta, and answer validation meetings.
- Engage with subject matter experts for ongoing content review and validation. Receive and incorporate feedback.
- Self-manage assigned tasks and deadlines to complete deliverables. Proactively communicate issues and risks.
Skills
- 3+ years’ experience developing instructor-led, hands-on technical skills training.
- 2+ years’ experience developing web-based training.
- Experience developing training for the utility industry.
- Experience with technical writing
- Strong knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies.
- Very strong task analysis knowledge and capability
- Strong knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, and Articulate Storyline.
- Flexibility to work on simultaneous development efforts, as needed.
- Knowledge of QuestionMark and Author-it.
- Comfortable and capable of working on a High Performing Team
- Safety knowledge is strongly desired.
- Lock out tag out knowledge strongly desired.
- Must be willing to work Pacific Time Zone business hours
- Available for onsite visits 5% to 10 % of the time. Must be available for overnight visits to mountain locations. 1 or 2 visits per quarter are required.

- Very strong task ADDIE skills, flexibility to work on simultaneous development efforts, comfortable and capable of working on a high-performing, fast-paced team.
Notes:
- A bachelor's degree is ideal but not required.
- The role will be hybrid with some travel to PowerGen powerhouses.
- Available for onsite visits 5% to 10% of the time.
- Must be available for overnight visits to mountain locations. 1 or 2 visits per quarter are required.
- Proper PPE will be provided before any onsite visits.
- Expenses will be reimbursed for travel.
