    Job Description

    SYSTEMS TEST ENGINEER JOB DESCRIPTION

    • The Systems Test Engineer will provide technical leadership and support for the testing and performance evaluation of IR and EO imaging systems with specific emphasis on Man-portable, Thermal Weapon Sites and vehicle-mounted sensor products.
    • Develops and applies system engineering test methodologies and procedures to conduct design verification testing (DVT), First Article test (FAT), and Factory Acceptance Testing (AT) of imaging sensors.
    • The Systems Test Engineer will participate in systems engineering product development processes, test fixture and test process development, test execution, and test results documentation.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • The Systems Test Engineer will Support systems engineering efforts for the development & testing of IR & EO sensor products.
    • Responsible for leading and supporting extensive laboratory testing and qualification efforts for new and existing IR/EO sensor systems and optical sub-systems.
    • Support development of test plans and procedures, perform extensive data collection, data analysis, and document results.
    • General knowledge and experience with Uncooled LWIR Imaging sensors.
    • General knowledge and experience with IR and/or Visible optical telescope testing.
    • Some experience and general working knowledge of Solid State Laser systems (i.e., pointers, illuminators, rangefinders, and designators).
    • Willingness and ability to conduct basic lab measurements of these devices and payloads.
    • Provide systems engineering support to manufacturing, production, and customer service groups, as needed, in support of existing products.
    • Support troubleshooting of technical issues.
    • The Systems Test Engineer will Contribute to and support laboratory hardware test equipment and related software procurement, set-up, maintenance, calibration, operation, and training.
    • Contributes to test fixture requirements, development, specification, procurement, assembly, and set-up, as well as test software set-up and integration.
    • Familiar with Gage R&R
    • Familiar with Statistical Data analysis techniques
    • Contribute to technical presentations and technical reports, analyses, and proposals to customers.
    • Support Testing transition to production and provide extensive training to test technicians
    • Perform other job-related duties as required.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • BS in physics, engineering, or optical science.
    • At least 5 years of experience in testing and evaluation of IR (preferably uncooled LWIR) and EO imaging sensors.
    • Familiar with analog and digital video standards, image acquisition, frame grabbers, and related image test software.
    • Familiar with one or more of the following automated testing and data analysis programs; Matlab, IR Windows 2001 or IR Windows 4, IMATEST, Labview, Microsoft Excel, and NVLabCap.
    • Ability to work effectively with all technical professionals; technicians, engineers, scientists, and consultants.
    • Related experience with operation and testing of laser systems, a plus.
    • Excellent writing skills and ability to report effectively.
    • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.
