    Job Description

    PROGRAM ANALYST   DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

    • The Customer Energy Solutions (CES) organization provides integrated energy solutions that help business and residential customers save energy and money.
    • The Energy Efficiency (EE) team focuses on inspiring and empowering our customers to eliminate unnecessary energy use, reduce their carbon footprint, and save money. As one of the nation’s largest energy efficiency portfolios, EE is helping to transform markets, set building codes and appliance standards, and be the marker by which all other utilities are measured.
    • Within the EE team, the Oversight, Verification, and Review (OVR) team ensures EE program data quality, maintains regulator relationships, and supports communication with internal and external stakeholders.

      POSITION SUMMARY:

    • Location will be determined by the hiring leader and the successful candidate.

      ACTIVITIES:

    • You will be responsible for technical review of EE projects that span various customer segments (Agriculture/Food Processing, Commercial, Industrial, Institutional, and High Tech/Real Estate).
    • Additionally, you will develop and support data quality protocols and validation processes for EE energy savings and incentive programs.
    • This role will work closely with our other quality control teams to ensure projects are complete and of the utmost quality.

      TASKS WILL INCLUDE:

    • Completing technical reviews of EE projects which may include reviewing technical calculations, customer baselines, proposed equipment, existing and proposed operations, relevant codes/standards, and any other relevant factors that affect the IOU savings claim.
    • Other activities include analysis of large data sets for validation gaps and errors, analyzing market data for trends, and implementing process improvements to enhance EE data accuracy.

      SKILLS:

    • The successful candidate must demonstrate strong technical, quantitative, analytical, and project management skills.
    • The successful candidate will demonstrate accountability and a dedication to collaborative problem-solving.

      RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Review of technical calculations, customer baselines, proposed equipment, and existing and proposed operations.
    • Build relationships with internal customers (policy, quality control, etc.) to perform accurate and efficient technical reviews of EE projects
    • Provide technical and policy training to external Third-Party Programs who will be submitting projects to our client
    • Build customized reports
    • Develop analytic tools that assess EE program data accuracy
    • Analyze EE technology market data for cost-effectiveness and viability
    • Predict business outcomes selecting from various complex variables
    • Analyze customer usage data for eligibility in meter-based programs
    • Develop internal strategy, analysis, and governance EE data quality improvement efforts
    • Troubleshoot data quality issues, determine root causes for recurring problems, develop data validation logic, and implement process improvements
    • Develop metrics that inform business strategy and operations. Clearly articulate recommendations and findings in communications to leaders.
    • Develop reference materials on data management best practices
    • Support implementation of CPUC legislative direction, including data requests and compliance filings
    • Manage small to mid-size data quality improvement projects.

      MINIMUM:

    • 2 years of related work experience, in one or more of the following:
    • Engineering and/or technical analysis
    • Analyzing customer and energy usage data to assess energy or bill-related program impacts
    • Analyzing/maintaining data quality for large, complex data sets
    • Developing a business strategy based on data analytics
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience

      DESIRED:

    • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
    • Engineer in Training Certificate (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license
    • Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
    • Utility industry experience
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • General knowledge of end-use technology (lighting, HVAC, refrigeration, motors, pumps, compressors, and commercial, industrial, and agricultural processes)
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office: MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, or similar software
    • Experience and proficiency in project management: manage multiple priorities and projects to completion such as energy efficiency projects
    • Experience with Measurement and Verification techniques
    • Familiarity with Salesforce CRM platform

      TOP THINGS:

    • Energy project experience
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, and
    • Familiarity with building codes.

      NOTE:

    • The candidate would need to be in California state**
    • The successful hire will be working remotely from home. Once the SIP is lifted they will have the option of working out of our new headquarters in Oakland (300 Lakeside Dr, Oakland, CA), 705 P Street in Fresno, CA, or 2730 Gateway Oaks in Sacramento, CA
