    POSITION: Pressure Vessel Quality Control - Fabrication Shop

    DESCRIPTION - ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Inspection of all ASME incoming fabricated materials such as shells, heads, transitions, and other components to ensure that they conform to drawings or industry fabrication standards.
    • Ensures that all measuring devices, gauges, and instruments, required for quality control inspections, are maintained, calibrated, and certified. Maintains records of all calibrations, re calibrations, and certifications.
    • Ensures that all ASME code required pressure vessels are manufactured according to ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes with the proper materials and documentation.
    • Responsible for initiating a vessel file folder for each code pressure vessel before work is started, and that the data report for each code vessel is properly filled out and is routed to the proper destination.
    • Ensures that all welders performance qualifications are properly recorded and verifies welding procedures are appropriate for the requirements of the work being performed.
    • Coordinates outside inspections with authorized ASME. inspectors, vendors, customers, and other inspection agencies.
    • Makes in process and hold point inspections for work in our production department.
    • Make final inspection of completed components before shipment to ensure that they conform with specifications, including crate specifications when required.
    • Provides technical data to fabrication scheduler to ensure that all Q.C. hold points and outside services are included in the manufacturing schedule.
    • Ensures that the software, specifications, and standards used for ASME Q.C. requirements are kept current.
    • Attend all Safety Committee meetings as a working member.
    • Periodically inspect rigging, harnesses, and lifting equipment for safe working conditions.
    • Provide training for safe working conditions as required. Answers questions and/or concerns from employees on safety and health standards as needed.
    • Various other duties to be assigned.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS: QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

    • Must have a minimum of bachelor's degree or 6 plus years of experience
    • Must be an AWS CWI
    • Knowledge and proven experience working with ASME. code, specifications, and standards.
    • Must be able to read and understand prints and print tolerances
    • Must have the ability to determine product conformity based on established tolerance levels
    • Must be able to use and read required inspection equipment
    • Must be proficient in Excel and Word

    PREFERRED SKILLS

    • Strong communication skills
    • Ability to work with others in a team environment
    • Five or more years working as a QC Inspector with experience in pressure vessel construction, piping, structural welding,
    • Fabrication or Machining experience is required
    • Good references with excellent work attendance and attitude

    ADDITIONAL NOTES
    Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Frequently required to sit, stand, use hands, talk, and hear. Regularly required to walk and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT
    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles.
