    The Logistics Specialist is primarily responsible for shipping, receiving, material handling, overseeing the warehouse as well as occasionally assisting with buying, inventory and materials staging in support of the operations team tasked with assembling Galvion helmet systems.   

    The Logistics Specialist serves as a role model and is responsible for cross training individuals to assume her/his responsibilities in case of absence.  As a member of the core team, the Logistics Specialist must lead by example in a professional and efficient manner at all times, serving as a mentor, coach and counselor. 

    SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    PEOPLE:

    • Coordinate with Customer Service and Sales team for customer special shipping requirements
    • Works closely with Customer Service, Logistics and others to ensure accurate ERP transactions and related paperwork are provided for all shipments, inclusive of BOL, CI, Packing Slips, etc
    • Train additional individual(s) to support Logistics Specialist duties as back up
    • Interact with Supply Chain team to maintain accurate financials for all receipts of goods
    • Interact with operations team providing guidance, coaching and mentoring on a regular basis

    PROCESS:

    • Responsible for all shipping duties including packaging, palletizing, weighing, shrink wrapping, coordination with carriers, and reporting on all outgoing materials.
    • Interface with freight carriers and brokers, including the booking of LTL and FTL shipment pickups
    • Develop the processes and procedures for general shipping, receiving, as well as product returns (RMA's
    • Responsible for materials receiving duties include receipt, inspection, damage assessment, storage and reporting on all incoming materials
    • Material handling duties include the operations of a combination of manual and electric lift equipment to load and unload freight trucks, putting materials in storage and staging for assembly
    • Order and maintain all the materials necessary to support all shipments (boxes, packaging materials, tape, labels, etc.)
    • Process all daily receipts of incoming raw material, sub-components and components
    • Enter transactions into the ERP system, ensuring inventory control and warehousing requirements are input in a proper and timely manne
    • Maintain a warehousing process for proper storage and identification of all materials , sub-components and components
    • Warehousing duties include planning, organization, diagramming, staging, reporting and safety associated with all materials incoming, staged, stored, or outgoing. 
    • Maintain an inventory control process to ensure the accurate accounting of all materials received, stored and shipped

    PERFORMANCE:

    • Ship all customer orders in a timely manner for both domestic and international shipments as specified by customer service.
    • Escalate quantity moves or material issues to Manufacturing Manager
    • Generate and execute weekly cycle counts
    • Coordinate with suppliers
    • Process all daily shipments via UPS, FedEx, and other freight couriers such as small carrier packages as required for domestic and international customers – on time and accurately
    • Operate material handling equipment including fork lift and pallet moving trucks to load and unload freight trucks, putting into pallet racking storage, and staging materials
    • As required, assist with buying, inventorying and staging of materials, sub-components, and finished helmet systems that facilitate daily, weekly and monthly operational plans.
    • Other duties as assigned

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with directly applicable experience.
    • 3+ years' experience in shipping, receiving, material handling and/or warehousing
    • Experience with coordination and documentation of domestic and international ground and air shipments
    • Experience in a manufacturing environment and use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) operating software
    • Capable of performing inventory control, documentation and data entry tasks accurately and on time
    • General knowledge of material handling equipment, to include operations and maintenance of pallet jacks and 200" aerial lifts
    • Position requires someone who is self-motivated and proactive
    • Meticulous attention to detail, time management and organizational skills
    • Strong communication skills; both verbal and written
    • Proficiency with MS Office, especially strong in Microsoft Excel
    • Familiarity with Department of Commerce Export Administration Regulations a plus
    • Ability to work with minimum of supervision, including prioritizing of work
    • Military experience is a plus

    WORK ENVIRONMENT (INCLUDE PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS)

    • Manufacturing and warehouse environment.
    • Some travel may be required between Galvion facilities.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk or hear.
    • Frequently required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
    • Must regularly lift and move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • Wear proper safety equipment
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
