  • Responsibilities

    The Thin Film Coating Operator is an e-beam vacuum chamber skilled position responsible for loading, operating, and maintaining thin film vacuum chambers in the production of customer optics assemblies. On-time, high quality part coating is the focus of this position. This Operator position must be able to mask and load parts onto fixtures, operate the chamber, and unload parts in order to meet production schedules with high quality results. The Operator performs light machine maintenance, and delivers parts to the next manufacturing step on-time. Equipment operation is performed in a cleanroom.

    SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    PROCESS:

    • Mask and prep parts prior to loading vacuum chamber.
    • Load and operate optical vacuum deposition chamber coating equipment in a process driven manufacturing environment.
    • Follow work instructions and troubleshooting manufacturing problems.
    • Perform maintenance, and setup of chamber equipment, and support equipment as needed.
    • Follow all preventive maintenance procedures and per manufacturer's specifications.
    • Complete quality control tests and measurements as specified.
    • Install maintenance-level machine components and operating materials per equipment instructions.
    • Maintain all production, process, quality, and equipment records as required.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    PEOPLE:

    • Work with Lead/supervisor to troubleshoot the manufacturing process as needed.
    • Adhere to safety and 5S program for equipment area
    • Positively contribute to team work assignments in meeting production schedule and goals.

    PERFORMANCE:

    • Ensure that all duties are performed in a timely manner consistent with applicable quality requirements, safety guidelines, and applicable procedures.
    • Execute manufacturing job setup of coating machines for high quality optical parts produced on-time and on schedule to internal planning and customer commitments
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    • 5+ years of thin film coating experience using and maintaining e-beam vacuum deposition chambers

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

    • Experience handling and inspecting optical components

    • Computer literate, proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, specifically).

    • Position requires a person who is meticulous and quality conscious.

    • Experience with analytical test equipment is a plus.

    • Clear written and verbal communication skills.

    • Fast learner with excellent time management skills.

    • Possess creative problem solving skill with the ability to work in a team environment.

    • Must be adaptable to rapidly shifting priorities and testing schedules.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT (INCLUDE PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS)

    • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds required.
    • Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
    • Use of eye protection required.
    • Overtime will occasionally be required.
