Launch Media Network is a leading global media and marketing services company for the video game industry, living at the intersection of gamer communities, the content gamers create, and the brands focused on gamers. We're seeking a Staff Writer & Associate Editor for GameSkinny.com, our gaming news and information website.

This is a full-time, on-site staff position located at our offices in Sandy Springs, GA. As the Staff Writer & Associate Editor, you will report directly to the Senior Editor and Managing Editor. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for seeking out leads for your own stories and features, as well as editing articles written by GameSkinny's freelance writing team and community. Other responsibilities include writing and editing for SEO, researching trending topics within the gaming industry, and discovering backlink opportunities to increase GameSkinny's online presence.

The ideal candidate is capable of working both independently and within a group. They are proactive and capable of juggling several projects at once while adhering to GameSkinny editorial policies and internal deadlines.They are a lifelong gamer with extensive knowledge of the video game industry, its genres, and its influential players.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will have a strong editorial background and experience with creating accurate, grammatically correct copy for a digital-facing media publication. They should be comfortable giving actionable feedback to other writers and providing extensive edits when necessary.

Qualifications:

• Firm grasp of the English language, both written and verbal

• Strong communications skills, both written and verbal

• Extensive knowledge of word processing tools

• Firm implementation of SEO best practices

• Working knowledge of SEO research tools

• Basic working knowledge of HTML

• Excellent organizational skills

• 1+ years experience writing for a news organization or digital media publication

• 1+ years editing copy for a news organization or digital media publication

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, or Communications preferred

• Must live in the Atlanta Metro area and be willing to work at our Sandy Springs offices

• Bonus: Knowledge of and experience with social media management and digital design tools, such as Hootsuite, Buffer, and the Adobe Creative Suite.

• Bonus: Experience with AP (Associated Press) style.

• Bonus: Knowledge of video game peripherals hardware, such as gaming controllers, mechanical keyboards, and gaming headsets.
