    The Administrative Support Specialist provides administrative and programs support that includes functions such as: working with the Family Support Workers to manage the Family Resource Center calendar and schedule events, greeting and directing Family Members in person and by telephone, conducting informal screening of Family Members, obtaining information about reasons for accessing services and providing information and referral resources to Family Members.

    The Gándara Center provides residential, mental health, substance abuse, and preventive services for children, adults, and families across the Pioneer Valley and eastern parts of Massachusetts. Founded in the Hispanic community, we value cultural diversity and strive to provide culturally competent, innovative services to a diverse community. The Mission of the Gándara Center is to promote the well-being of Hispanics, African-Americans, and other culturally diverse populations, through innovative, culturally competent behavioral health, prevention, and educational services.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Welcome, all visitors, families, and partnering staff to the Family Resource Center in a warm and nurturing manner.
    • Answering phones and community inquiries regarding the Family Resource Center.
    • Obtain information about reasons for accessing services and direct the Family Member to the appropriate staff member.
    • Provide information and referral resources.
    • Provide administrative assistance to the staff at the Family Resource Center such as copying, typing, mailing, faxing, and ordering supplies.
    • Work with the FRC Director/Program Manager to maintain a schedule of staff and partnering staff.
    • Work with the Family Support Workers to manage the Family Resource Center calendar and schedule events
    • Participate in FRC team meetings and planning retreats.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    • The ability to work with diverse populations in a community-based setting.
    • Computer skills, a positive attitude, and excellent communication skills are a must.
    • Availability to work flexible hours is required, including evenings and weekends.
    • Bi-lingual applicants, especially in Spanish and/or Vietnamese, are encouraged to apply.
    • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively in a professional manner both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to work as a team member.
    • Must have a valid MA license and reliable vehicle.
    • Ability to seek out assistance when needed
    • Dependable, committed, and motivated.
