    Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.The position can reside in Dallas, Houston, New York, Philadelphia or Washington, DC office and under the general supervision and direction of the Director of Alumni Relations, will be responsible for the proactive and responsive coordination and administration of the firm’s alumni program.

    The position will coordinate the development and execution of Alumni Relations engagement strategies, initiatives and projects to support the identification and evaluation of connections and targets for new business development opportunities.

    We are looking for a forward-thinking, proactive, analytical and confident individual with acute attention to detail, impeccable Excel, research and writing skills, and outstanding business acumen. Individual must be able thrive in a fast paced, strong team-oriented environment, and be passionate about marketing and business development.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION INCLUDE:

    • Coordinate and execute the production of a broad range of alumni relations materials, content and presentations across multiple internally and externally-facing mediums. Includes development of newsletters, websites, social media, events, contests, special reports, engagement plans and other communications as needed
    • Coordinate content management of the Alumni Relations website, including curating and writing content, posting content, and newsletter productionReview, research, update, and maintain alumni data in firm marketing and alumni databases
    • Analyze and distill alumni data to provide actionable intelligence for the firm’s attorneys, practices, offices, marketing/business development teams, and additional business services teams
    • Track metrics; prepare reports and updates as needed
    • Coordinate technology maintenance and enhancements with IT and external vendors for Alumni Relations systems

    QUALIFICATIONS (EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):

    • Bachelor’s degree required, MA in journalism or business or JD preferred
    • At least 2 years of business development, marketing, alumni relations, journalism or related experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services organization
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Excellent organizational, time, and project management skills, ability to manage multiple priorities, and adjust to changing priorities in a flexible, professional manner while providing a solutions-oriented approach to ensure user satisfaction
    • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, including strong writing and editing skills, familiarity with AP style guidelines, adherence to firm style guide and templates, and ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with individuals at all levels within and outside of the firm
    • Excellent at manipulating and analyzing data with Excel
    • Familiarity with CRMs (i.e. InterAction), email marketing systems (i.e. Vuture) and CMSs (i.e. Peoplepath) preferred
    • Social Media savvyAbility to work independently, as a member of teams, and with colleagues located in different offices
    • Confident and approachable manner when communicating with senior levels at the firm
    • Desire to proactively seek out and disseminate additional information and analysis, beyond that which may have been requested
    • Creativity of thought when seeking solutions, collaborating with stakeholders and working towards the firm’s common goals

    Working Conditions

    • Office environment – extensive sitting at desk and computer; some standing, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching required; ability to lift 5-20 pounds occasionally.
