    JOB SUMMARY

     

    As an employee of Union Hospital, it is the responsibility of this, and all positions within the Hospital, to support the mission and role of Union Hospital. In addition, this position will actively support the Hospital’s strategic plan in the areas of People, Service, Quality, Finance and Growth, in a team-based environment. The employee also performs all job duties in compliance with laws and regulations and in observance of accrediting agency standards.

     

     

     

    The office nurse will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to oversee and participate in patient care routines within the office setting. The nurse will be responsible for, but not limited to assisting the physician with procedures and general health and wellness education for patients. Provide services in a customer focused considerate manner respecting patient rights. The nurse also completes indirect care activities needed for the efficient operation of the office. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    The Registered Nurse assigned to the Orthopedic Practice will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide quality care, based upon nursing process and assessed physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs as appropriate to the age of the patient. The Orthopedic Office Nurse cares for adult, geriatric and adolescent patients.

     

    The Registered Nurse works under the supervision of the Manager of UPS Specialty Practices. Provides clinical leadership for patient care. Performs other duties as assigned.

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    1. Nursing Degree (A.D., Diploma, BSN, etc.) from an accredited School of Nursing.

    2. Licensed to practice professional nursing in the State of Ohio.

    3. General Orthopedic or Surgical nursing experience preferred.

    4. Excellent clinical skills in delivery of care.

    5. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with people projecting a positive image for the Hospital.

    6. Excellent organizational, communication and detail skills.

    7. Ability to work independently and prioritize work.

    8. Ability to remain calm and function well in stressful situations.

    9. Ability to lift moderate weights.

    · Performs a physical, psychosocial and spiritual assessment and re-assessment on all assigned patients as needed.

    · Evaluates for age appropriate behavior, motor skills and psychosocial norms.

    · Evaluates nutritional and functional status and collaborates with other disciplines to meet patient needs.

    · Identifies and considers physical, spiritual, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, age-specific, educational needs, cultural beliefs incorporating into plan of care and discharge plan.

    · Assesses status of Advanced Directives and follows through according to established policy.

    · Assesses pain appropriately and follows through according to established policy.

    · Communicates effectively with patients, families, and other health care professionals.

    · Assesses patient’s physical needs including pain assessment

    · Assesses patient’s psychosocial and behavioral health needs

    · Assesses patient’s and families’ learning needs

    · Provides patients and families with appropriate education

    · Administers prescribed medications and treatments

    · Accepts verbal orders per policy and procedure
