    Stem, Inc. is searching for a growth focused Product Marketing expert to lead our talented and highly motivated team dedicated to providing valuable product marketing support across offerings and markets.

     

    The SR. DIRECTOR, PRODUCT MARKETING will provide deep subject matter expertise that can fill the gap between Product Management and Sales. Core focus areas will include: Product Offering Strategy and Launch, Product Positioning, Product Collateral, Project Valuation Tools, Sales Support for Direct and Partner programs as well as Customer & Market Insights. You will be responsible for working closely with key team leaders from Sales, Product, Operations, Finance, Technology and the C-Suite to focus our business strategies upon the highest growth segments within our industry and across other markets, enabling Stem to grow share in existing markets and enter new markets.     WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

     

    • Leading the product marketing team and collaborating closely with product development, marketing and sales to develop product features, pricing, competitive analysis and market research;
    • Crafting and implementing Stem’s corporate strategy for product development and launch, based upon customer requirements and market demand, and owning the Offering development roadmap;
    • Serving as the Stem leader for market assessments of standalone storage and solar + storage engagements;
    • Oversee the development of models and tools used to value projects, including price and margin calculations and the process of automating these models to increase throughput.
    • Staying abreast of common industry processes, general data system performance requirements, and investment drivers in the industries served by Stem;
    • Partnering with Product Management leaders to define, document and disseminate requirements, specifications and performance standards for all offerings;
    • Working with the leadership team to identify key markets, segments, applications and offerings within the solar and storage industry with significant growth potential;
    • Creating, owning and communicating the pricing and positioning for each Stem product and service, including both hardware sales and Software And Service (SAS) offerings;
    • Managing the development of business cases (features, benefits, ROI, etc.) and sales materials for each offer;
    • Providing marketing support to Sales as needed in launching, introducing, and the selling of Stem products and services;
    • Leverage existing sales team and customer relationships to rapidly identify and develop new capabilities;
    • Represent the company at various technical meetings and trade shows to promote Stem and gather market feedback
    • Work with Stem’s Hardware, Software, Operations and Product Development teams to help identify and solve application issues.
    • Responsible for global product marketing, sales enablement programs dedicated to accelerating sustainability transformation for corporations, cities and governments around the world.
    • Help drive continuous process improvement and automation to help scale Stem’s pre-sales efforts

     

    Required Skills

    • Proven track record of successful execution of product marketing strategies for the solar and storage industry;
    • Experience building and executing effective market strategies and sales implementation plans across multiple industries;
    • Ability to penetrate and position disruptive technology and business models within the highest levels of large organizations;
    • Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization;
    • Undergraduate degree in technical or engineering field, with a master’s degree in business preferred
    • Led successful launches of key product lines
    • Established and led product marketing teams to own new functions: digital marketing, field marketing, analytics, and marketing automation
    • Demonstrated success in designing, launching innovative marketing strategies and provide tactical analysis across top strategic verticals
    • Ability to build, mentor and direct high-impact marketing teams.

     

    COMMUNICATION SKILLS: The candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to clearly and concisely present complex material to technical teams, business leaders, sales personnel, and customers alike in a way that relates to each audience. The ideal candidate will be comfortable using Salesforce.

     

    INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: The interpersonal qualities that will make a good Senior Director of Product Marketing include outstanding creative skills that will facilitate differentiation of the product; an ability to be decisive, iterative and agile with a laser focus on results; an ability to manage multiple projects in a fast paced working environment; proactive and disciplined in following through on priorities and programs; calmness and composure in uncertain and strenuous situations; highly collaborative attitude with a deep sense of ownership and accountability.

    Required Experience

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS IN SUMMARY

     

    • 5+ years relevant commercial experience in wholesale renewable energy with preference for direct experience with energy storage
    • 5+ years of relevant commercial sales and/or marketing experience in a market-facing role (e.g. delivering presentations to customers and prospects, conducting competitor analysis and market research)
    • 3+ years of experience managing people and leading teams
    • Highly analytical with a passion for data and results
    • Proven ability to launch a product to success
    • Must be a strong speaker, comfortable in front of large and senior audiences, and a solid writer who can concisely deliver the message.
    • Excellent people, interpersonal and leadership skills to interact with staff, colleagues, cross-functional teams and third parties. Team player!
    • Proficient in excel, PowerPoint, Salesforce and SFDC reporting/analytics
    • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; MBA or master’s and/or equivalent experience in field preferred.
