    GROUP DESCRIPTION

     

    Generally, Framatome Fuel Engineering will directly support the reactor core design needs for US Region Light Water Reactor BWR commercial operation.  Framatome Fuel Engineering will provide the leading support and coordination for reactor core fuel management development, design, licensing, safety analysis and methods development required to support any commercial BWR reactor design. BWR Core Design Richland is part of an international fuel and reactor core design team within the Framatome corporate team. 

     

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    BWR Core Design in Richland is seeking summer interns to undertake projects to support reload analyses including computer codes and automation tools relating to the performance of engineering work for the thermal-hydraulics. The primary need is thermal-hydraulics; however, assignments involving nuclear reactor physics, neutronics methods, and core design are also possible.   These internships will be for the summer of 2020.

     

    Responsibilities will depend on qualifications and skills of the applicant. They may include: Supporting thermal hydraulic reload analyses.  Creation or modification of automation codes supporting engineering calculations. Testing of new automation and methodology codes and tools for future production application.  Assignments in nuclear reactor physics, neutronics methods, and core design are also possible.                                       

    Required Skills Required Experience

    ALL CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY.

     

    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or Computer Science, with at least four semesters completed by start of internship/co-op.

    THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS ARE DESIRED AND WILL BE USED TO DIFFERENTIATE ALL CANDIDATES WHO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION.

    • Previous internship/co-op experience in field of study

    • Programming skills in FORTRAN, C, Python, and/or C++

    • Familiarity with UNIX/LINUX  scripting
