    THE REACTORS & SERVICES BUSINESS GROUP: 

     

    The Reactors and Services Business Group combines the nuclear reactor design and construction activities and the products and services activities necessary for the maintenance, operation, modernization, and improvement of power plants. It also includes vessel propulsion nuclear reactor and research reactor activities. Framatome is currently constructing four EPR™ reactors, of generation III+.   

    WELDING AND COMPONENT REPAIR DESIGN:    

    The Welding and Component Repair Design is part of the Component Replacement and Repair (CR&R) Department within the Nuclear Services Business Unit.  The unit consists of the Component Repair Design, Welding Engineering, Project Engineering and Project Management groups. The unit is responsible for component repair designs, installation procedures, and welding engineering support for all CR&R projects (Reactor vessel (RV) Control Rod Drive Mechanism nozzle repairs, Bottom Mounted Nozzle modifications, pressurizer nozzle repairs, structural weld overlays, control element drive mechanism canopy seal welding and replacement of steam generator, RV head, and pressurizers) and on occasion to outside company organizations, welding process development, repair contract project engineering, Steam Generating Team project welding engineering technical, administrative and field operations support.   

    JOB DESCRIPTION:   

    Framatome is seeking a WELDING SHOP SUPERVISOR for the Welding & Component Repair Design organization.  

    Perform supervisory and oversight duties for the Weld Shop, associated shop activities and component fabrication such as such as pipes, vessels, components, etc. for the Component Repair and Replacement organization. This supervisor shall be responsible for administering and inspecting all welder performance qualification (WPQ) tests that are administered in the Lynchburg weld shop. Additionally, apply knowledge of welding and cutting techniques, materials, equipment and fabrication requirementsto analyze work orders and blueprints to determine material needs and fabrication sequencing. The Shop Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the shop in a orderly state ready to support work activities at all times. Activities include: 

    • ASME and AWS Code application and interpretations related to Welder Performance Qualifications and Welding Procedure Qualifications
    • Supervise component fabrication including welding and machining operations
    • Support ASME Code procedure qualifications
    • Conduct ASME Code personnel Welder Performance Qualifications
    • Support the development and qualification of remote machine welding process
    • Procurement of weld shop materials and consumables
    • Apply the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) processes to field repair/construction solutions
    • Supporting resolution of welding questions from other Framatome organizations
    • Train personnel in the operation of welding and shop equipment
    • Set up welding equipment to perform trial welds and feasibility evaluation for experimental products

        

     

    ALL CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY.  CANDIDATES WHO EXCEED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS MAY BE CONSIDERED FOR A HIGHER LEVEL POSITION.    

    • B.S. Degree plus 7 years relevant experience OR Associates Degree plus 10 years relevant experience OR High school degree or GED plus 12 years relevant experience

    • 5+ years of construction and supervising welding personal

    • Extensive welding experience with the ability to obtain qualification in SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW under ASME Section IX code

    • Flexible and willing to work on one project or juggle multiple projects and prioritize work

    • Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word

    • Ability and attitude to learn a variety of new procedures, processes, and tools, while maintaining various stages of production

    • Ability to work well in a high paced atmosphere

    • Meticulous organizational skills

    • Ability to occasionally travel off site to conduct welder performance qualification and trips for walk downs, training and/or meetings with customers, and occasional support of field work

    • Ability to read fabrication drawings and procedures

    • Available to start work by June, 2019

     

    THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS ARE DESIRED AND WILL BE USED TO DIFFERENTIATE ALL CANDIDATES WHO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION:

    • Associate Degree in Welding, Materials Science or related degree program

    • 10+ years of construction and supervising welding personal

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • A pro-active approach to problem identification and resolution

    • Experience with machining parts and components

    • General machining experience, such as ability to operate a vertical mill

    • Experience with machine welding equipment and processes

    • Construction experience on ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code components

    • Experience administrating ASME Section IX Welder Performance Qualifications

     

    TRAVEL:   

    Travel (10%) domestic and international. Candidate may support up to two or three field deployments annually to travel to plant sites in the spring and fall to support site outage work (1-3 weeks at a time) and occasional trips for walk-downs, training and/or meetings with customers.  Most travel will be planned in advance, and could include some international travel.

    • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science with four plus years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of skills, knowledge and ability.
    • Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions.
    • Possess highly skilled interviewing techniques. Selects the appropriate elicitation technique to efficiently identify critical requirements by asking the _right_questions through the use of interviewing.
    • Experienced at conducting modeling sessions to analyze complex requirements or design issues.
    • Ability to create logical business and technical documentation using a working knowledge of standard business process modeling tools (i.e., Microsoft Visio), and the Unified Modeling Language (UML) and Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN).
    • Possess and apply a comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices and procedures to the completion of complex and difficult assignments or projects for assigned business processes.
    • Ability to lead teams and motivate individuals.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment using strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse audiences at all levels both internally and externally.
    • Working knowledge of legacy systems and web development technology and its capabilities.

     

    Preferred Qualifications_:_ Bachelor’s degree in computer science and four years of process design experience with a background in financial services and/or student loan industry.
