    POSITION SUMMARY:      The advisor will advise CCA students on appropriate degree paths, self-development, career exploration and education, employment opportunities and outlook, career development, experiential learning opportunities, job search skills and strategies, networking and interviewing skills, and materials for employment.  The advisor will work collaboratively with staff, faculty, community members and employers to address the immediate and long-term career development needs of students as they pertain to employment. The career advisor will also function in an internship coordination role and coordinate, teach and monitor internships through the Career Services Center.

     

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Conduct career advising one-on-one and group sessions with students regarding career development processes and personal development.
    2. Plan and execute strategies to reach out to CCA students to provide individual and group career advising for experiential learning opportunities.
    3. Develop programming to assist students with job readiness skill development including resume and cover letter writing, job search strategies, and interviewing skills to market to part-time and full-time internship and potential careers.
    4. Assist incoming students to identify their career goals and in planning their career trajectory.
    5. Assist in planning, implementing and marketing on-campus career events for students.
    6. Partner with Academic Affairs to develop opportunities for CCA students to participate in employer visits/tours, job shadowing, work experiences, internships (to include teaching BUS 181: Internships), career-related service learning and other experiential career exploration activities.
    7. Design, implement and teach workshops and class visits on career decision-making, internships and job readiness/search skills.
    8. Assist maintaining a career services website to include relevant resources on career development, internships and job opportunities.
    9. Collect and utilize pertinent data in decision-making and report regularly on program, services, accomplishments and challenges. Serve as SME for employment outlook for academic programming.
    10. Assist in maintaining career development, internship and employment related publications and resources.
    11. Establish, maintain and promote on and off campus relationships and partnerships with employers and potential internship sites.
    12. Other duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject area.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of career development and advising of student populations.
    • Experience with Inclusive Excellence working with diverse populations.
    • Experience developing, implementing and conducting career workshops and programs.
    • Recorded experience in community and business outreach to fulfill business/industry needs and develop strong employer partnerships.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of social media job search techniques and digital footprint/profile development. Able to teach conduct social media workshops.
    • Experience with executing special events such as employer recruiting events, company spotlights, career networking events and career fairs.
    • Excellent communication, organizational, time management and planning skills.
    • Proficient in the Microsoft office package (Word, Excel, Outlook), presentation software, the internet and use of social media for educational purposes.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master’s degree in Counseling, Business or other relevant subject area or career services experience
    • Experience in event and program planning
    • Community College Career Advising experience
    • Demonstrated performance in working with inclusive environments of diverse populations
    • Website maintenance and formatting
    • Curriculum development
    • Bilingual

     

    SALARY RANGE:  Anticipated salary range is $40,000 to $43,000. The specific salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan. Leave and holiday benefits are also included.
