    GROUP DESCRIPTION

     

    Fuel Design is an internationally-organized group which supports the engineering needs for the company's global fuel products. Within Fuel Design, the Materials department has responsibility to develop new fuel materials, maintain material specifications, and interface directly with manufacturing and vendors. Materials engineers work closely with Fuel Reliability to monitor the in-reactor behavior of fuel products and keep performance databases current.

     

    JOB DESCRIPTION

     

    This is a temporary, intern/co-op position in the Fuel Design, Mechanics & Materials department.   The intern will work with the engineering staff to support evaluations of commercial nuclear fuel products constructed from zirconium alloys, nickel alloys, and stainless steel.

    Tasks may include:

    • Compiling post-irradiation data gathered from fuel operated in commercial nuclear power reactors

    • Analyzing data for inclusion in material databases and correlations

    • Reviewing continued applicability of predictive material models

     

    Required Skills Required Experience

    ALL CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY.

     

    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Materials, Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering with at least four semesters completed by start of internship/co-op.

    THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS ARE DESIRED AND WILL BE USED TO DIFFERENTIATE ALL CANDIDATES WHO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION.

     

    • Previous internship/co-op experience in field of study
    • Experience or coursework in statistical analysis of data 
    • Materials science coursework 
    • Experience using MS Office tools including MS Word and Excel
