Job Summary
Do you like gardening and learning about plants and being outdoors? Are you detail oriented? We are looking for hard-working, team players, who are dedicated to improving our client's garden spaces. Willing to train those that are passionate about horticulture and who are hard workers! We are a small, family-owned business. Together, with the owner and our small team, we will maintain grounds by performing a variety of tasks, including watering, raking, weeding, shrub pruning, bed edging, deadheading, mulching, and planting. Our goal is to maintain beautiful and well-groomed outdoor spaces for our clients. Our client's gardens range from city lots to country settings, formal gardens to native wildflower spaces.
The job has various locations in the metro area including Northville, Milford, Riverview, Allen Park, Ypsilanti, and Dearborn Heights. Must have your own reliable transportation to the locations. The position is part-time from approximately April 1 - October 31. Monday 2PM-8PM, Wednesday 2PM-8PM, Friday 9AM-12PM,
Pay: $20 per hour starting gardener. Pay advancements are possible based on performance and experience.

Essential Functions:
Daily use of hand tools such as pruners, shovels, rakes, pruning saws, bed edgers, hedge trimmers, weeders, and wheelbarrows safely and effectively in order to maintain client gardens.
Watering of plants using portable sprinkler systems, hoses, or watering cans.
Frequent pruning or trimming of shrubs and hedges, using shears and pruners.
Planting and removing annuals, perennials, shrubs, vegetable gardens, native plant installations, and occasionally trees.
Harvesting cut flowers.
Gathering and removing litter.
Interacting with clients in a professional and friendly manner and relaying of any needs to the business owner.
Client privacy and confidentiality is essential.
Must have reliable transportation and an ability to commute to different client locations such as Northville, Milford, Riverview, Allen Park, Dearborn Heights, and Ypsilanti.
Requirements:
Past experience as a gardener preferred, but willing to teach an eager learner
Passion for gardening and the natural world
Ability to use hand-held tools, shovels, etc.
Excellent verbal and written communication
Ability to be adaptive
Strong attention to detail
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to take instructions
Customer service skills to serve client needs
Excellent work ethic and positive attitude
Make safety a priority
Ability to work the shifts as described in hours
Must be able to comfortably do the following repetitively: balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift grasp, bend, feel, see, talk, hear, and work on your feet or in seated positions for long periods of time.
Must be able to occasionally lift or move 50 pounds.
Ability to be exposed to hazardous physical conditions (i.e., domestic and wild animals, vibration, etc.), poor atmospheric conditions (i.e., odors, dust), and occasional intense noise.
Willing to work in all weather conditions such as but not limited to extreme heat/cold, wet/humid, etc.
Fluency in English, both written and oral, is required.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Hours
Monday 2PM-8PM, Wednesday 2PM-8PM, Friday 9AM-12PM, possible other days if needed, but would verify employee availability first.
Part-time from approximately April 1 - October 31.
Hours dependent on weather.
