We are hiring Gas Construction Inspectors to support natural gas main replacement and new business main/service installation projects throughout the Massachusetts region, starting in April of 2026. Inspectors will serve as the on-site representative for our team, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and in full compliance with utility standards, engineering designs, and all governing regulations. Schedule & Work Expectations • Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM • Overtime and weekend work may occur based on operational needs • Inspectors may be assigned to multiple crews or job sites Responsibilities: Pre-Construction • Review project scope and identify high-risk construction activities • Verify contractor crew qualifications (e.g., welders, fusion technicians) • Confirm updated drawings, procedures, and specifications are available on-site During Construction • Independently oversee daily construction activities • Ensure stamped engineering drawings are on-site and followed correctly • Monitor OQ validity for all crew members performing covered tasks • Observe safety practices; address and escalate unsafe conditions • Oversee excavation, pipe installation, depth of cover, clearances, and materials • Monitor fusion work, pressure testing, purging, tie-ins, and other critical tasks • Capture photographic documentation of key construction milestones • Create and update as-built drawings • Complete and sign daily inspection reports • Take GPS points for mains and services (equipment provided) • Sign off on change orders when required Post-Construction • Submit accurate as-builts and final documentation • Review site restoration and post-construction mark-outs • Turn in completed paperwork daily Reporting & Coordination • Submit digital daily reports to the QA/QC supervisor • Participate in weekly quality meetings (virtual or in person) Qualifications: • Demonstrated experience in natural gas utility construction or inspection • NGA OQs for tasks being inspected (or ability to obtain before field deployment) • Strong understanding of 49 CFR Part 192, state regulations, and industry standards • Ability to read/interpret engineering drawings and specifications • Familiarity with polyethylene (PE) pipe installation, fusion, pressure testing, and purging • Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills • Valid driver’s license Compensation: 40 - 45 hourly
