Gastroenterology Physician – VA Maine (Augusta, ME)

Location: Augusta, ME
Facility: VA Maine Healthcare System (Togus VAMC)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM + rotating call
Start Date: Upon credentialing

Compensation

• $300 per hour
• Overtime and callback eligible
• Weekly pay options
• Malpractice insurance covered

Position Overview
You will provide comprehensive gastroenterology care to veterans in a clinical and procedural setting. You will manage consults, perform procedures, and support inpatient and outpatient care.

Responsibilities

• Perform GI evaluations, consults, and follow-up care
• Conduct procedures based on privileging
• Interpret diagnostic tests and imaging
• Document care in VA electronic health record
• Provide on-call coverage (rotating schedule)
• Collaborate with VA clinical teams

Schedule Details

• Clinic hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• On-call:
  • 1 weeknight rotation (1 in 4)
  • 1 weekend in 4
  • 1 holiday in 4
• Must respond:
  • Phone within 15 minutes
  • In-person within 1 hour if required

Requirements

• MD or DO
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
• Active, unrestricted medical license (any state)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• DEA, NPI required
• Strong procedural and clinical experience
