  • Responsibilities

    A Gate Clerk is responsible for overseeing the flow of vehicles, goods, and personnel entering and leaving a logistics facility. They ensure compliance with security, operational, and administrative procedures while maintaining accurate records of all activities.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1\. Gate Operations

    • Monitor and manage the entry and exit of trucks, trailers, and other vehicles at the facility gates.
    • Verify drivers' documentation, including identification, delivery orders, and shipping manifests.
    • Perform security checks on incoming and outgoing vehicles, as required.

    2\. Record Keeping

    • Accurately log vehicle arrivals, departures, and load details into the company's system.
    • Maintain records of all gate activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
    • Generate reports for management on vehicle and freight activity as needed.

    3\. Communication and Coordination

    • Serve as the point of contact for drivers, providing directions and guidance within the facility.
    • Communicate with the operations and warehouse teams to coordinate loading, unloading, and vehicle movements.
    • Report any delays, discrepancies, or security concerns to the appropriate departments.

    4\. Compliance and Safety

    • Ensure that all vehicles and personnel comply with safety regulations and facility protocols.
    • Check the condition of cargo and vehicle seals to prevent tampering or theft.

    5\. Administrative Tasks

    • Process gate passes, delivery receipts, and shipping documentation.
    • Handle inquiries from drivers, vendors, and other stakeholders professionally.
    • Assist with troubleshooting system errors or administrative discrepancies.

    6\. Technology Use

    • Operate gate management software, RFID systems, and handheld scanners.
    • Use email and communication tools to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.

    • Use of tablet or desktop computer to record the flow/coordination of trucks/trailers

    Skills and Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent; additional training in logistics or administration is a plus.
    • Basic knowledge of shipping and receiving processes.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Good communication and customer service skills.
    • Ability to use computers and standard office software.
    • Familiarity with safety and compliance regulations in logistics is advantageous.
