    About the Role

    We are hiring a Gate Security Officer to serve as the front-line presence at a residential community in the greater Charleston, SC area. As a gate officer, you will be the first point of contact for residents, guests, and vendors — responsible for controlling access, verifying credentials, and maintaining a professional, welcoming environment.

    This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in attention to detail, communicates well with people from all backgrounds, and understands the importance of consistent, reliable security coverage.

    What You'll Do

    • Staff the gate house and manage vehicle and pedestrian access to the community
    • Verify resident credentials, guest passes, and vendor authorizations
    • Log all visitors and maintain accurate entry records
    • Monitor security cameras and report suspicious activity
    • Enforce community access policies and post orders
    • Communicate with residents, property management, and CSSI dispatch
    • Respond to incidents, emergencies, and resident concerns in a calm, professional manner
    • Complete daily activity reports and incident documentation
    • Maintain a clean, organized gate house area

    Schedule Details

    This is a full-time, second-shift position.

    • Shift hours: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM
    • Schedule includes weekends and holidays

    Specific days will be discussed during the interview process. You can expect consistent weekly hours with overtime opportunities available.

    Compensation

    $18.00/hr

    Overtime is paid at 1.5x for all hours over 40 in a work week.

    Requirements

    • Must be 21 years of age or older
    • Valid SC SLED Unarmed Security Officer Registration (or ability to obtain prior to start)
    • Clean criminal background — must pass SLED background check
    • Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation
    • Strong customer service and communication skills
    • Professional demeanor and appearance
    • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
    • Ability to stand for extended periods
    • High school diploma or GED

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Prior gate house, concierge, or access control experience
    • Prior security, law enforcement, or military experience
    • Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification
    • Familiarity with visitor management systems and CCTV
    • Experience working in residential or HOA communities
