    DOMESTIC VIOLENCE NONPROFIT WITH DECADES OF PROVEN SUCCESS IS SEEKING A PART-TIME VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR TO JOIN OUR TEAM. 

    WHAT WE DO

    For over 40 years, Gateway Domestic Violence Services has been a leader and innovator that provides a highly effective combination of shelter and comprehensive services to adults and children fleeing domestic violence. Gateway is the only 24/7 shelter available in the City of Aurora and Arapahoe County, offering emergency shelter and extended-stay care, together with a crisis line, counseling, and court advocacy. Our Mission is to prevent and eliminate intimate partner violence through counseling, residential care, and empowering people for social change.

We are looking for passionate, dedicated employees to work in our emergency shelter and to support our caring, comprehensive services.     WHO WE SERVE

    Our service area includes the City of Aurora and Arapahoe County. Most of our clients are women and a third of those we serve are dependent children, with men, LGBTQIA folks and all victims welcomed. Most Gateway clients are low-income, earning at or below 30% of area median income.

    THE OPPORTUNITY Under the direction of the Executive Director, we are looking for a detail-oriented and compassionate Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, screen, and train new individual volunteers. This position will work with program directors to decide the best opportunities for volunteers within each program. Volunteer Coordinator will match volunteers according to their skills and interest when possible. Tracking volunteers' hours contributed, ongoing communication with and appreciation of all volunteers is crucial to success. This position will include outreach to the community. Working with groups of volunteers to support our mission is also important to this role. 

    WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

    • Recruiting, training, and supervising new volunteers.
    • Collecting volunteer information, availability, and skills, and maintaining an up-to-date database. 
    • Using marketing tools such as outreach programs and social media to increase the awareness of Gateway Domestic Violence Services and the volunteer program.
    • Keeping new and existing volunteers informed about the organization and volunteer opportunities. 
    • Matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skill sets, and ensuring they understand their responsibilities and receive the proper training.
    • Organize training program include on the job learning.
    • Keep schedules and records of volunteers' work.
    • Develop and implement operating procedures to uphold Gateway's values.
    • Represent the organization and the mission professionally and with passion.

    WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO OUR ORGANIZATION 

    • Associate degree in Human Resources, Social Work, or related field preferred, but related work experience will be considered.
    • Understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence helpful.
    • Experience in volunteer management or related field preferred.

    WHAT OUR ORGANIZATION IS PROVIDING

    • This is a part-time role at 20 hours a week, with the hourly rate starting at $21.15 an hour. 
    • Part-time workers are entitled to vacation, sick leave and a Gateway recognized holiday on a pro rata basis.
