Job Description
GenServe, LLC is seeking a Payroll and Benefits Specialist to provide weekly payroll administration and processing along with benefits administration. The Payroll & Benefits Specialist administers the activities relating to the company payroll, benefits and HRIS processing including developing, implementing, and monitoring. The individual will be the company’s subject matter expert with all payroll, benefits and HRIS administration.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
PAYROLL:
- Process payroll for hourly, salaried, and temporary employees, for both Union and Non-Union employees, for all GenServe locations, which includes multiple states.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
- Stay current as the subject matter expert for ADP Workforce Now application
- Respond to all unemployment claims in a timely manner.
- Administer the time and attendance policy and paid and unpaid leave policy for all employees.
- Administer all employee benefit programs including enrollments and terminations.
- Produces scheduled and ad-hoc reports pertaining to payroll and human resources requirements.
- Process manual check and off-cycle payrolls as necessary
BENEFITS:
- Remain knowledgeable on contracts for union employees.
- Coordinates and conducts the new employee on boarding process and presents benefits presentations to ensure employees gain an understanding of benefit plans and enrollment provisions.
- Plans, conducts, and reports results of audits to ensure all enrollments are accurate and that dependent information is correct for each employee and works closely with accounting for quarterly and year end audits (payroll, Workers Comp, 401k, etc.).
- Addresses benefit inquiries to ensure timely and accurate resolutions. Maintains contact with employees and beneficiaries to facilitate proper and complete utilization of benefits for all employees.
- Processes monthly billings from providers. Reviews billings for accuracy and approves for payment in a timely manner. Resolves discrepancies with carriers and payroll.
- Coordinate with third party administrator to manage disability claims according to the plan
- Administers online COBRA enrollments/changes and responds to and manages unemployment claims and workers compensation cases.
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree required in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or related area of study.
- 3-5 years of Payroll and Benefits related experience
- Prior experience handling payroll/ benefits for employees under a Union contract
- Prior experience using ADP preferred.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Must possess excellent analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the organization including Sr. Level Executives.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and shift priorities based on business needs or requests.
- Ability to make independent decisions and handle difficult workplace situations in a calm and discreet manner.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail; strong follow-up skills a must.
- Excellent record keeping habits with a keen eye for data inconsistencies.
- Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
- Strong understanding of Human Resources processes and terminology, payroll and benefit processes and procedures, including eligibility and enrollment rules and benefit procedures.
