  • Responsibilities

    Under general supervision, the Field Communications Technician will provide specialized installation and operation to VSA systems and other electronic equipment. Job requires professional conduct, mature judgment and proven ability to handle install, troubleshoot network and intercom cabling.

    Job Responsibilities:

    Installs, Operates, Diagnose defects and Maintains 2-way VSAT systems and other electronic equipment.

    Perform skilled shop work in the repair of VSAT and electronic communication equipment.

    Tests circuits and other electronic components using various testing meters and devices. Isolates defects and corrects them.

    Conducts field testing to troubleshoot the cause of interruptions or interference of services.

    Diagnose/ resolve technical problems related to the use of computers, printers, fax machines, and other related communications equipment.

    Install and troubleshoot network and intercom cabling and terminations.

    Adhere to all safety regulations within Genco and that of our customers at all times.

    Assist with tracking & documenting equipment for inventory purposes.

    Maintain a Customer Service attitude that is positive and productive.

    Responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of company-provided tools and vehicles.

    Communicates and tracks work status and job scope changes to all concerned.

    Coordinate with NOC to ensure VSAT services are fully functional.

    Ensure quality and safety by adhering to all company policies and procedures.

    Communicate and assist in coordinating business development activities.

    Ensure company compliance with documentation of Field Tickets, JSA’s, Rig Inventories and requirements with specific timelines.

    Read general network diagrams

    Proactively communicates scheduling constraints and other factors that could affect daily operations.

    Keep records and prepare reports

    Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Must have a working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook

    Operate hand tools such as drills, multi-meters, soldering irons, cutters and crimpers

    Is highly customer-oriented

    Is effective at oral and written communication

    Maintain professional demeanor and appearance (per customer and regulation requirements)

    Must have a valid driver’s license and a motor vehicle record that meets fleet insurance requirements - No more than 3 moving violations in the past 3 years

    Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with a two-year associate's degree, diploma or equivalent from a college, technical, business, vocational, or correspondence school. Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training.

    Over one year up to and including three years.
