  • Responsibilities

    This role would work typically 35 to 40 hours per week.

    Job Description:

    • Business Support - Plans and coordinates business management or administrative and support services. Prepare content and organize logistics of meetings for division. Provide a variety of administrative support functions to assigned work unit. Interpret a variety of VDOT, State and Federal policies and procedures in daily work tasks. Frequent contacts with management and staff, general public, boards, and government officials to plan and/or coordinate activities and to serve as a resource person on administrative policies and procedures. Support Division with making timely updates to VDOT / division website.
    • Fiscal and Budget - Coordinate financial and budgetary activities for assigned work unit. Review invoices and vouchers, make payments and reconcile data. Prepare budgets, monitor expenditures, reconcile data, and prepare reports. Prepare and process expense reports.
    • Procurement Support - Develop, coordinate, and support Division specific contracts that support the delivery of the core program.
    • Perform duties as assigned. - Perform duties, tasks, activities, and/or projects as assigned

    The candidate should have the following knowledge, skills & abilities:

    • Knowledge of accounting / budgeting principles and practices.
    • Knowledge of procurement principles and practices.
    • Strong ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with diverse groups.
    • Skilled with MS Office specifically Excel.
    • Skill in the use of computers and web-based systems including electronic procurement and financial management systems such as Cardinal.
    • Ability to read and interpret policies and procedures.
    • Ability to research, analyze, format financial data and prepare reports and recommendations.
    • Skilled in handling multiple responsibilities.
    • Skilled in applying knowledge of office/business practices and procedures.
    • Driven, detail oriented, problem solver with high degree of customer service skills & business acumen.
    • Previous experience with a state agency
