    Able General Contracting is a Pierce County General Contractor specializing in residential restoration repair and light commercial Tenant Improvements. We work in Pierce, King, and Thurston Counties. We are currently seeking the best lead and journeyman level carpenters to join our team. Applicants should have a minimum of five years’ experience in all aspects of custom, residential construction, along with a strong background from framing to finish work. You must have a genuine interest and ability to perform well on both custom modern work and traditional design. Our projects include new construction, remodels and light commercial construction. This position involves regular interaction with clients, subcontractors, project manager, etc., therefore requires a high standard of professionalism. From start to finish on every project, we place an extraordinary value on communication and craftsmanship.Responsibilities and DutiesPosition Type and Expected Hours of Work:All carpenter positions work up to 40 hours per week, with occasional opportunities for overtime. It is expected that you are ready to work with your “bags on” at the scheduled start time. Most job sites start at 7:30am Monday through Friday.Physical Requirements:You should be experienced in all aspects of construction, be comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding, heights, as well as with power tools and equipment. You should be in good physical condition and have the ability to accomplish all assigned tasks. Working conditions include being outside in all types of weather and inside of customer’s homes and businesses.This position requires physical skills, such as standing, walking, climbing, lifting and carrying, near acuity and manual dexterity. Applicable PPE (personal protection equipment) such as steel toe boots/shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, etc. must be worn on site.Desired Skills and Experience:• 5 plus years’ carpentry experience in all aspects of residential construction.• Handyman, general repair – light electrical, plumbing and maintenance; drywall and tile skills are a plus.• Must be reliable and prompt, with a professional appearance and demeanor.• Carpentry experience should include framing, cabinets and interior trim carpentry, which includes windows, doors and casework; exterior trim carpentry includes siding, fascia and soffits.• Must take direction and work well in a team environment, as well as ability to work independently.• Must be able to think on your feet to solve problems quickly and effectively.• Must be “day one ready” arriving at work with tool bags and the following: skill saw, cordless drill/impact, sawzall, screwdriver combo bit set; level, utility knife, 50 ft. power cord, 25 ft. tape measure and a framing gun.• Ability to pass pre-employment criminal background check.• Must be fluent in English• Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. • Must have a dependable vehicle with insurance.• All aspects of residential carpentry: 5 years (required).• Finishing Carpentry: 2 years (preferred).• Driver’s license with reliable transportation (required).Able General Contracting is an equal-opportunity employer and will consider all applications without regard to race, gender, age, color, religion, national origin, veteran status, disability, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by law.We provide full-time work, medical, PTO, bonuses.
