The General Foreman – Transmission Line Construction is responsible for managing multiple field crews performing construction, maintenance, and repair of high-voltage transmission systems (69kV–345kV). This leadership role oversees project planning, crew coordination, scheduling, and execution to ensure safety, quality, and productivity at every stage.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned transmission professional with a proven ability to manage complex projects, mentor linemen, and maintain strong communication with project management and clients.
Supervise and coordinate multiple crews performing transmission line construction and maintenance.
Plan and manage daily field operations , allocating resources and sequencing work for maximum efficiency.
Direct energized and de-energized line work , including stringing, sagging, reconductoring, and jumper installations.
Conduct daily safety briefings and ensure 100% compliance with OSHA and company safety protocols.
Review plans, blueprints, and work orders , ensuring accurate and safe execution of project scope.
Monitor crew productivity, work quality, and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
Troubleshoot field challenges and guide crews through safe, effective resolutions.
Oversee tool, vehicle, and equipment maintenance to support safe, efficient operations.
Manage project documentation, reporting, and client communication.
Lead storm restoration efforts , including mobilizing and managing crews for emergency response.
Work outdoors in all weather conditions and at significant heights.
Ensure compliance in energized high-voltage environments and maintain focus under physically demanding conditions.
10+ years of recent field experience in transmission line construction and maintenance (69kV–345kV).
Minimum 3+ years in a supervisory role as Foreman or General Foreman overseeing line crews.
Expert knowledge of line work procedures —sagging, phasing, grounding, clearance/tagging, induced voltage, and reconductoring.
Proven experience managing energized and hot-stick transmission work.
Valid driver's license; CDL preferred (or ability to obtain within 60 days).
OSHA, CPR/First Aid, and pole-top/bucket rescue certifications required.
Strong understanding of transmission systems, lattice towers, and substation interfaces preferred.
Ability to climb poles/towers , lift 50+ lbs, and work safely at heights and in all weather conditions.
Flexible availability for overtime, storm restoration, and emergency mobilizations.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to train, mentor, and manage multiple crews.
Experience with project planning, scheduling, and material/resource management.
