Summary – Machine Shop Helper: Our Precision Machining client is growing, and we’re seeking a Machine Shop Helper to support the machining of precision parts. This is a hands-on, entry-level position that will put you on the fast track toward becoming a skilled CNC machinist.
Day-One Responsibilities – Machine Shop Helper
- Stage and prep raw material (aluminum, stainless, exotic alloys) for CNC mills & lathes
- Perform daily machine maintenance: chip/waste removal, coolant & lubricant refills, spindle warm-ups, work-area housekeeping
- Execute accurate parts counts and maintain move tickets/routers
- Deburr, tumble, clean, and label workpieces for downstream operations
Growth Path – Machine Shop Helper
- Conduct in-process parts checks with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, go/no-go gauges
- Enter dimensional offsets/compensation at the control (Fanuc, Haas, Okuma)
- Change inserts, end mills, drills & indexable tooling safely and efficiently
- Assist programmers with basic G-code edits and prove-outs
What We’re Looking for in a Machine Shop Helper
- Mechanical aptitude and a passion for manufacturing technology
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Basic math skills; ability to read job travelers and follow written work instructions
- Any exposure to shop environments, trade school, or machining coursework is a plus
