Position Summary
The Grounds Maintenance Technician I is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the Hilltop Lakes POA community with a strong emphasis on groundskeeping and outdoor care. This entry-level position performs routine landscaping, site cleanup, and property maintenance to ensure common areas remain attractive, safe, and well-maintained for residents and visitors.
The technician works under general supervision and contributes to preserving the natural beauty and functionality of the community.
Key Responsibilities
Groundskeeping & Community Appearance (Primary Focus)
• Perform routine grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, edging, weed control, and clearing debris • Maintain roadsides, common areas, recreation areas, and POA-owned properties to ensure a clean and well-kept appearance • Remove brush, limbs, leaves, and natural debris to maintain safe and accessible outdoor spaces • Assist with landscaping projects such as planting, mulching, and seasonal grounds preparation • Support storm cleanup efforts, including removal of fallen limbs and debris • Monitor property conditions and report hazards, damage, or maintenance needs to the supervisor • Ensure public areas are presentable and free of litter or safety concerns
General Maintenance Support
• Assist with minor repairs, painting, and general upkeep of POA facilities as needed
• Operate and maintain equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools
• Complete assigned work orders accurately and in a timely manner
• Assist other maintenance staff with daily assignments and community projects
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or outdoor maintenance preferred but not required
• Basic knowledge of landscaping tools and equipment helpful
• Ability to follow safety procedures and established work practices
• Ability to perform physical labor including lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, walking, and working outdoors in various weather conditions
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work as part of a team
• Valid driver’s license preferred
