About us
Filta Bay Area is a growing commercial kitchen services business serving customers across the northern San Francisco Bay Area. We provide recurring and project-based services that help commercial kitchens operate more safely, efficiently, and sustainably, working with customers ranging from restaurants and schools to hospitals, corporate campuses, and large institutions. Today, the business generates approximately $2 million in annual revenue and has a team spanning field operations, sales, and administration. We are part of the broader Filta franchise network while operating as an independently owned local business.
About the Role
We are looking for a General Manager to lead the business through its next stage of growth and organizational development.
The GM will be responsible for the overall performance of the business and for building the people, systems, and management discipline required for the company to operate and grow without depending on the owner for day-to-day direction.
We are not looking for someone who already has every answer or has spent their entire career in our industry. We are looking for someone with strong business judgment, high ownership, exceptional learning ability, and the ability to turn unclear problems into action.
The GM will lead across Operations, Sales, and Administration while working closely with the owner on overall strategy and major business decisions.
What You'll Own
Own the overall health and performance of the business.
Revenue growth and profitability
Budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance
Operational performance, productivity, and service quality
Customer retention and satisfaction
Execution against annual and quarterly priorities
Understand what's driving results, identify where the business is off track, and ensure the organization responds.
Lead and develop the managers responsible for Operations, Sales, and other key functions.
Establish clear ownership, expectations, and performance standards
Hold managers accountable for outcomes
Coach managers to become stronger leaders and problem solvers
Resolve cross-functional issues
Address performance problems directly
Make difficult people decisions when necessary
You do not need to know more about every function than the people managing it. You do need to ask good questions, exercise sound judgment, and ensure the organization delivers.
Build the management infrastructure that allows the company to scale.
Establish useful KPIs, scorecards, and management rhythms
Improve processes and clarify ownership
Identify recurring problems and address their root causes
Build stronger planning and decision-making systems
Improve how information flows through the organization
Reduce unnecessary dependence on individual people, including the owner
The goal isn't simply to solve today's problems. It's to continuously make the organization better at solving problems.
Ensure that growth is commercially attractive, operationally achievable, and financially sound.
Hold Sales accountable for pipeline and revenue performance
Ensure effective handoffs between Sales and Operations
Support retention and expansion of existing customers
Evaluate new customers, services, and growth opportunities
Ensure staffing and operational capacity keep pace with growth
The GM does not need to be the company's best salesperson or operations expert. The GM is responsible for making sure the functions work together to produce sustainable results.
How You Operate
You create clarity from ambiguity. Important problems rarely arrive neatly defined. You can take a vague problem or desired outcome, determine what actually needs to be solved, find the information and people you need, make reasonable assumptions, and carry the issue forward without waiting for someone else to give you a roadmap.
You take ownership. When something important falls into a gray area, your instinct is to figure out how to move it forward. You distinguish between what truly requires escalation and what you can resolve yourself.
You learn fast. You don't need to already know everything. You get smart on unfamiliar subjects quickly, seek out information independently, ask good questions, and update your thinking as you learn.
You think in systems. You don't want to solve the same problem repeatedly. You look underneath individual incidents for problems in process, incentives, information, capability, or accountability.
You adapt. Technology, AI, customer expectations, and ways of working are changing quickly. You actively explore what's changing, distinguish useful developments from hype, experiment thoughtfully, and help the organization adopt better ways of working.
You exercise judgment and act. You are comfortable making decisions without perfect information. You know when more analysis is valuable and when it's time to make a reasonable decision, act, learn, and adjust.
You lead directly. You support and develop people while maintaining high standards. You're comfortable challenging assumptions, giving candid feedback, and having difficult conversations when necessary.
What We're Looking For
There is no single career path required for this role.

Experience in a service business or operationally complex environment is helpful but not required.
Direct P&L experience is preferred but not required for an exceptional candidate.
Industry experience is not required.
