Job Overview:
The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall operations of the company, including managing staff, coordinating installation schedules, ensuring customer satisfaction, bookkeeping and payroll, driving sales goals, maintaining quality control, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
Oversee daily business operations, including installation, repair, and maintenance services.
Develop and implement operational procedures to optimize efficiency and productivity.
Ensure timely and high-quality completion of all guttering projects.
Team Leadership & Development:
Manage a team of employees, including supervisor, installers, sales and administrative staff.
Conduct regular performance reviews and provide training or development opportunities.
Create a positive work environment that promotes teamwork and professionalism.
Payroll & Bookkeeping:
Oversee payroll processes, ensuring all employees are paid accurately and on time.
Manage the company’s bookkeeping, including tracking income, expenses, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
Ensure accurate financial records are maintained and that tax and compliance obligations are met.
Financial Management:
Manage budgets, forecast financial performance, and control expenses to achieve profitability.
Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure financial health.
Analyze financial reports and suggest improvements or cost-saving measures.
Customer Service & Satisfaction:
Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by ensuring timely communication and high-quality service delivery.
Address customer complaints and ensure issues are resolved promptly and effectively.
Develop strategies to improve customer retention and attract new clients.
Sales & Business Development:
Drive business growth through effective sales strategies, including market expansion and identifying new business opportunities.
Collaborate with the sales team to set and achieve revenue targets.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and suppliers.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure the company adheres to all safety regulations, industry standards, and local building codes.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a General Manager, Operations Manager, or similar executive role, preferably in the construction or home improvement industry. Knowledge of guttering is a plus but not essential.
Experience in managing payroll and bookkeeping functions is required.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in business management software and tools.
