Marcus Food Company is a global food procurement business operating across complex international markets. Our External Sales Offices are independent contractor traders working across domestic and export markets.

We’re looking for a General Manager to align activity, manage risk, and drive financial results across these sales representatives. This isn’t a transactional trading role—it’s a leadership role focused on how business is sourced, structured, priced, and executed across a distributed network.

Increase profitability, operational efficiency, and reduce risk

Advocate internally for sales office needs and initiatives to meet their goals, through coordination and collaboration with Internal Sales leadership, Credit & Accounting, and Operations

Develop and execute a comprehensive freight carrier strategy to identify routing and mode optimization and reducing reliance on higher-cost intermediaries

Oversee pricing strategies, deal structure, and risk positioning across international markets

Monitor policy adherence and raise deal execution standards

Manage credit risk, contract terms, and the company’s interests in claim resolutions

Support diversification efforts in new markets and new commodities

    Qualifications

10+ years of experience in commodity trading, export trading, or international commercial operations (protein or ag commodities preferred)

Demonstrated ownership of P&L and delivery of margin improvement in volatile or variable markets

Experience managing decentralized or independent commercial teams preferred

Strong understanding of international logistics and its impact on pricing, execution, and profitability

Proven ability to structure deals and manage commercial risk in complex, multi-variable environments

Strong analytical, financial, and negotiation capabilities

Executive-level communication and cross-functional leadership skills

Able to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments

Operates with ownership and accountability for outcomes

    Compensation

This role includes a competitive base salary plus performance-based variable compensation tied directly to measurable freight savings and margin improvement.

    This is a remote position.
