Position Summary
The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the total operation of a high-volume RaceTrac location, typically generating $5M–$15M+ in annual revenue. The GM leads all aspects of the business including team development, financial performance, guest satisfaction, safety, and brand standards. This is a hands-on, floor-level leadership role.
As the General Manager, you will be responsible for driving profitability for one RaceTrac store and leading up to 20 team members. You will continually deliver on RaceTrac’s mission of making people’s lives simpler and more enjoyable through a focus on friendly service, food execution, cleanliness, building talent, and driving success.
RESPONSIBILITES:
Friendly
Establish an environment of prompt, efficient, and courteous service and effectively engage in conflict management
Lead and direct positive and professional relationships with co-workers, direct reports, guests, and vendors
Communicate respectfully and maintain a consistent team-oriented attitude and store culture
Manage and mitigate any reported guest concerns on designated shifts with a sense of urgency
Efficiently complete guest transactions at the cash register or self-checkout stations and suggest products that complement purchases
Food
Drive excellence in food service by executing designed processes, implementing goals to increase sales and margin, ensuring product quality, and using training resources
Ensure all food offers are available; ensure preparation areas and equipment are clean and properly maintained
Ensure all food service and proprietary programs meet quality and safety standards
Clean
Encourage and manage a high standard of store cleanliness
Direct, monitor, and adhere to all RaceTrac, federal, state, and local safety-related regulations, including food safety regulations
Execute shift duties, maintain overall presentation standards, and represent the RaceTrac brand
People Leadership & Team Development
Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain a high-performing team of up to 20 associates
Create and manage scheduling that meets business needs while controlling labor costs
Coach and develop direct reports including Assistant Managers and Team Leads
Write, implement, and monitor manager development and performance plans
Execute all RaceTrac training programs and ensure certifications and licenses are current to state and local laws
Ensure all team members follow policies and company standards at all times
Ensure communication is passed to every team member in the store

Financial Management & P&L Ownership
Manage the full P&L including revenue, COGS, labor, shrink, and controllable expenses
Analyze daily, weekly, and period sales reports to identify trends and drive corrective action
Control cash handling, lottery operations, and banking with strict accuracy standards
Achieve or exceed financial targets set by the company
Safety, Compliance & Loss Prevention
Maintain full compliance with all regulations including age-restricted sales (tobacco, alcohol, lottery)
Ensure all food safety, fuel safety, and environmental regulations are met and documented
Partner with Loss Prevention to minimize shrink and uphold asset protection standards
Driving Success
Strategically direct control of inventory and the distribution of materials, merchandise, and supplies
Review financial statements, sales, analysis reports, and other performance data to measure productivity
Actively identify areas of operational improvements based on market trends
Develop and maintain a relationship with vendors to ensure efficient and correct deliveries
Create or approve Management and Associate schedules to ensure proper staffing levels for expected sale volumes, while taking team member availability, payroll, and overtime costs into consideration
Ensure proper procedures are followed in regards to hiring, promotions and separations
Have complete understanding of budget and cost trends that impact operations; proactively work to drive sales and overall financial health of the store
Required Qualifications:
3+ years of prior food service, retail, or restaurant supervisory experience; retail management experience preferred
Previous experience working in high-volume, guest-focused, transactional environment preferred
Demonstrated P&L management with a track record of meeting or exceeding financial goals
Proven ability to recruit, develop, and retain frontline teams of up to 20 employees
Availability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays
Valid driver’s license; must be 18 years of age or older
High School Diploma or GED in progress or completed
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Proven knowledge of Labor Laws and staffing best practices
Can lift up to 50 pounds and repeatedly bend, stand, and reach while on the job
Must obtain and maintain Manager Food Handler certification. May be required to obtain and maintain alcohol server permit, based on local or state requirements
