    We are a growing, locally owned home-services company providing pest control, mosquito control, and professional lighting services throughout the Greater Greenville area.

    We are seeking a motivated, hands-on General Manager in Training who wants to learn how to operate and grow a service business from the ground up.

    This is not a traditional office management position.

    You will initially work alongside ownership and our employees to learn every aspect of the business, including field operations, customer service, scheduling, sales, hiring, training, inventory, equipment, financial performance, and team leadership.

    As you demonstrate proficiency and leadership ability, you will assume increasing responsibility for managing the day-to-day business.

    Our objective is to develop the successful candidate into the General Manager responsible for running the company’s daily operations.

    What You Will Learn & Do

    Learn the Business from the Ground Up

    The General Manager in Training will receive hands-on experience throughout the company.

    You will learn and participate in:

    Pest and mosquito control services

    Residential and commercial pest-control operations

    Landscape and architectural lighting

    Permanent lighting installation and service

    Holiday lighting installation, maintenance, takedown, and storage

    Customer service and account management

    Scheduling and technician routing

    Estimating and sales

    Inventory and purchasing

    Vehicle, trailer, tool, and equipment management

    Hiring and employee onboarding

    Financial and operational performance management

    Operations

    As your knowledge and experience grow, responsibilities will include:

    Coordinating daily schedules and technician routes

    Ensuring jobs are properly staffed and completed on schedule

    Monitoring field productivity and workmanship

    Performing quality-control inspections

    Managing inventory, materials, tools, and equipment

    Ensuring vehicles and equipment are properly maintained

    Helping resolve operational problems

    Improving processes and operating efficiency

    Supporting field operations when additional help is required

    Hiring, Training & Employee Leadership

    The General Manager in Training will gradually assume responsibility for:

    Recruiting and interviewing prospective employees

    Hiring and onboarding employees

    Training new technicians

    Scheduling and supervising employees

    Establishing performance expectations

    Coaching employees and providing feedback

    Addressing performance issues

    Developing employees capable of assuming additional responsibilities

    Planning staffing levels for seasonal changes in demand

    Customer Service

    You will help ensure that every customer receives a professional experience.

    Responsibilities will include:

    Communicating with customers

    Resolving customer concerns

    Following up on service issues

    Conducting quality-control inspections

    Monitoring customer satisfaction

    Helping generate positive customer reviews and referrals

    Identifying opportunities to provide customers with additional services

    Sales & Growth

    As part of learning the business, you will also develop an understanding of how customers are acquired and how the company grows.

    Responsibilities may include:

    Following up with prospective customers

    Conducting site visits

    Preparing or assisting with estimates

    Helping close sales

    Identifying cross-selling opportunities

    Developing relationships with homeowners, businesses, HOAs, property managers, and referral partners

    Participating in local networking and community events

    Business & Financial Management

    As you progress toward the General Manager position, you will learn to understand and manage the financial drivers of the company, including:

    Revenue

    Labor costs

    Material costs

    Gross margins

    Customer acquisition

    Technician productivity

    Customer retention

    Operating expenses

    Profitability

    Ultimately, the successful candidate will help develop operating budgets and goals and be accountable for achieving agreed-upon financial and operational targets.

    What We’re Looking For

    Previous pest-control or lighting experience is not required.

    We are looking for someone with leadership potential who wants the opportunity to learn how to run and grow a business.

    Prior experience supervising employees in home services, construction, landscaping, pest control, electrical work, hospitality, retail, logistics, military service, or another service-oriented business is highly desirable.

    A college degree is not required.

    Physical Requirements

    Because this is a hands-on management-development position, candidates must be willing and able to:

    Work outdoors in varying weather conditions

    Perform pest-control services

    Assist with lighting installations

    Work from ladders when appropriately trained

    Lift and move equipment and materials

    Drive company vehicles

    Perform physical work when operational needs require it

    A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required.

    Compensation

    Starting Base Compensation: $4,000 per month ($48,000 annually)

    In addition to base compensation, the position offers the opportunity to earn additional compensation based upon individual and company performance.

    Your Career Path

    This position is designed as a progression rather than simply a job.

    Phase 1 – Learn

    Work alongside ownership and employees to learn field operations, customers, systems, equipment, sales, and company processes.

    Phase 2 – Supervise

    Begin managing schedules, technicians, inventory, customer issues, and quality control.

    Phase 3 – Manage

    Assume responsibility for hiring, training, staffing, daily operations, productivity, customer satisfaction, and operating KPIs.

    Phase 4 – Lead

    Demonstrate the ability to independently manage daily operations and be accountable for revenue, costs, profitability, employees, and customer satisfaction.

    Phase 5 – General Manager

    Upon successfully demonstrating the ability to lead the operation, the General Manager in Training may be promoted to General Manager, with compensation and incentives reviewed based upon the expanded responsibilities and performance of the business.
