    Purpose: Packer Job Duty

Procedure: Ensure all Finish Good products have the correct mix/quantity, and of the highest quality.

Packing takes good hand eye coordination. Rhythm and consistency will come in time with experience, a positive attitude, and a strong emphasis on being a team player is what constitutes a good packer.

All packers are expected to pick a minimum of three bags of loose pack, into a sack, tray, or cube, in a fast-paced environment. (More experienced packers may be responsible to pack more than 3 bags)

Packers not only are responsible to pack the correct quantity, (please reference the chalk board for secondary communication of quantity expected to be picked) However, also need to be able to identify the loose pack bags being picked are of the highest quality. Meaning no open bags (top, bottom and back seals are intact) No airbags (meaning a sealed bag without any product within)

    • Double bin packers must insure they pick the correct quantity of each flavor (use chalk board as a reference)

    • Loose Pack must be free of any holes, ‘’sometimes you will smell the seasonings before you see the bag has a small hole or is open.

    • The bag cannot contain only air. If you encounter this frequently, please inform your Line Lead.

    • It is not the packer’s responsibility to determine the air fill of the bag. If the bag is properly sealed allow the check weigher to determine the correct weight of the product.

    • If a bag is open or unusable the packer will place this bag in a red garbage can, or red tote labeled ‘’chips only, not for human consumption’’.

    • If you start to see major changes within the product, for example heavier bags, or lighter bags please inform the line lead.

    • If you start to experience an accumulation of chip crumbs within your bin, that are not falling through the ‘’ crumb catchers’’ please notify the Line Lead for further disposition.

    • Should you miss a component or a unit altogether, no need to worry, as the check weigher will catch the error. However, understand the cause to course correct moving forward.

Should you feel line speed was the factor, please feel free to speak up and discuss with the line lead.
