Job Summary: The Senior Database Specialist will be in charge of administering and developing company databases to ensure database integrity and physical placement for optimum system efficiency.  They will enforce database standards and identify and develop database administration procedures, standards and guidelines for the company and the application development team. This carries over into providing services and advice to those responsible for programming systems projects and assists in training and development in regard to physical database design with respect to program development in a database environment. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Analyzes specific requests to alter the database and decides whether a request conflicts with the needs of other database users or data integrity
• Makes recommendations that represent stable long-range solutions for the information requirements of both our customers and our company
• Consult with management to prepare data element definitions and record definitions
• Responsibility for the maintenance of the corporate data dictionary in test, staging and production environments
• Performs reconciliation of the logical database design to the physical database design
• Creates the physical data structure diagrams used to represent the physical database design for systems projects
• Serves as senior subject matter expert associated with content, processes, and procedures related to database design, data integrity and security of data

REQUIRED / DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS:

• Can maintain and improve upon legacy systems, troubleshooting and correcting inefficiencies and data integrity issues
• Experience creating SSIS for ETL processes
• Experience with SSAS/SSRS environments
• Working within an encrypted data environment
• Understanding of various data protection
• Power BI experience, both building and maintaining
• Windows Server administration experience
• Setting up and maintaining continuous integration/continuous delivery for SQL Server
• Experience writing and using PowerShell scripts
• C#, PHP or other applicable web development experience preferred
• Experience with MySQL

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree and 5 years related experience required

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit for long periods of time; use of hands to grasp, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; finger dexterity; talk; hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
